Seems like you can gamble on pretty much anything?

Muay Thai fighters, elephant polo, fish, chickens. Assume these are all "certified"?

And tell me again who operates the local district/tambon casino?

Mon dieu.........quelle horreur, now the pesky tourists are again causing the downturn in Thailands perceived prestige as a Tourist haven. Gambling laws being broken by dart Players. if you did not read it you would not believe it. Those officials must rank alongside the INEXPERIENCED Major General in the stakes for being the most idiotic.

Just when you suspected they could not be any sillier they surprise us with shit like this, what a joke.

BANGKOK — The national darts association said pubs and sport bars that wish to offer the sport must register their equipment lest they be confiscated by local authorities.

The warning came amid complaints from establishment owners in Pattaya that they are being targeted by officials demanding dart permits. Thailand Dart Association chairman Vichai Govindani said the crackdown is supported by a 83-year-old law that lists darts, bingo and numerous other sports as gambling.

The stupidity of all this is bloody unbelievable. Haven't the officials got something better to do than this. What's next, license required for tables and chairs, toilet roll holders, pictures on the wall and so on until every glass in the bar will have to have its own rego number. Pleeeeees wake up and get on with doing something that might benefit someone. Requiring registration for all dogs might be a start, would perhaps prevent rabies which is almost unknown in most western countries.

I have read some absolute belters that are released by different 'Ministries' or 'Departments' here, but this is easily one of the most ridiculous I have ever seen.

They should spend there days raiding Thai properties where there is wide spread gambling only a few days ago I witnessed a card school of around 12 Thais playing cards and gambling one of them was dressed in what looked like a police uniform.

Woooh, that was close and glad they nipped this horrendous game in the butt before it got out of control.  Busted the elderly playing bridge earlier and I hear Chess Players are next in Thailand's sights followed by soccer players.   Prayuth is really cleaning the place up

No! Not soccer players, football is a sport.

Can i still pay 20 baht for 5 darts at the fairs to pop balloons and win a teddy bear?

100 baht for 1 dart for the large bear

Maybe the pubs need to hang balloons up for there darts league?

I know where there are plenty of balloons.:cheesy:

Well, they might as well ban all the cocks (the animals I mean ) from the country, since cock fighting and gambling seems to be one of the main pastimes for Thai farmers all over Thailand. Not to mention muay Thai... :sleepy:

No, unless the customer is a social misfit who looks like an easy mark.

Even more risky is paying everything up front on your credit card; which some poor TVForum member did recently.
