SAD SURVIVORS of last week’s Nakhon Ratchasima coach crash attended a cremation ceremony for some of the 18 victims yesterday.

All 50 people on board the coach were family members, friends or neighbours. The accident occurred in Nakhon Ratchasima last Wednesday as they were heading to Chanthaburi province for a leisure trip together.

In addition to the 18 deaths, more than 30 people were injured in the crash.

Sadness filled the air at the Dong Krayom Udomkhun Temple in Kalasin’s Muang district where five bodies were cremated at 2pm yesterday.

Some of the survivors of the crash attended the ceremony in wheelchairs and had to return to hospital for further treatment.

There were similar scenes at the Buddhamongkhon Forest Temple in Kalasin’s Muang district where other coach-crash victims were cremated at 4pm yesterday.

Because there were many victims, both temples arranged mass cremation on funeral pyres.

Sompong Preewilai, 51, lost his wife in the fatal accident, and was in tears at the funeral.

“I really don’t know what to do in the future. My whole family cannot yet cope with what happened. It’s too sudden,” Sompong said. “Whenever I think of my wife, tear runs down my face.”

The Mental Health Department has formed 12 teams to take care of people who lost family members in the crash.

“Some of them have become depressed and sleepless,” the department’s director-general, Sqn-Leader Boonruang Triruangworawat, said.

Coach driver Krissana Jutachuen has been charged with reckless driving that caused death and injury to others, fleeing the scene, and abusing drugs.

Krissana, who is now in detention, allegedly admitted to having taken methamphetamine before the trip.

“We may charge him with speeding, too, if tests confirm the coach was going beyond legal limits,” Provincial Police Region 3 commissioner Pol Lt-General Damrongsak Kittiprapas said.

Krissana’s employer would also be investigated.

Rattanaporn Thumkesorn, who survived the accident, said Krissana left the steering wheel before the crash occurred.

“I saw him running past me when the coach started to lose control. I saw him rush to open an emergency door and jump out,” Rattanaporn said.

She said the tour leader had tried to prevent the tragedy by immediately instructing her husband to rush to the steering wheel.

“But it was too late,” Rattanaporn lamented.

Heres  what you can do, stop believing in life after death , break the bonds of this religious  nonsense and hound your govt to stop the road carnage,  boot  out the military and start a  real democracy not  one  based on who pays the most wins and stop accepting money for  your  vote. The state of the country is down to "YOU" and only you can  really make a difference.

Dont tell me to have some respect "at this  time", respect would have stopped  this carnage in the  first place, respect for the rules of the road which Im pretty sure many on that coach would not  follow in their normally daily  routines.

Sadly enough, Thais believe in Buddhism.

They should better do like the USA and go everytime a mass killing occur to the Church where a minister will tell them how a guy who was walking on water will save the world if you believe in this guy and his fantastic stories.
The minister will tell the US citizens that they need to eat the flesh from Jezus and drink his blood to become selectioned for a plcae in heaven.

Sadly enough, Thais believe in Buddhism.

They should better believe in Islam and go slaughter people by blowing themselves up.
They will get 72 virgins in heaven after they blow themselves up in pieces.

This is a terrible tragedy. Not a place to condemn people for religious beliefs. Have some kindness and empathy and in times of death having some hope in this world is important for a lot of people.  You don’t have to agree but the anti religious posts starting with post number 1 make me wonder if you have lost some of your humanity.  No one truly has the one size fits all solutions so please stop using this tragedy as a excuse for your bashing others and their beliefs.  Peace

"The bus was chartered by a group of Kalasin residents visiting beaches in Chanthaburi province. It was on the way back to the northeastern province when it reached a downhill curve and the driver lost control." The Nation

It seems the reporters at The Nation can't decide whether the bus was coming or going before this tragedy.

Religion doesnt give you hope, it gives you false  hope, if they stopped believing in their religion and realised how precious life is then maybe just maybe this wouldnt have happened.

If you insist on acting in a irresponsible manner and then blaming fate as apparently many do then dont expect too much sympathy from the more enlightened
