we would like to know that if we buy land in my thai wife's name and then do a 30 year lease to myself, an english guy. if we then want to sell the land can i then give up the lease so we can sell the land

It would seem to me that a simple "surrender" of your leasehold rights filed with the land office and enscribed on the back of the deed would clear the tenancy issue and allow for a sale of the property.

Not a problem. But for something as important as this, go get a lawyer. Situations and circumstances vary. Appropriate advice is a must

thanks for the advice. to be honest we will definately seek advice but before we went we just wondered on anyones views. we havent decided whether to go for a condo or land. we will see
