I'm sure that the answer to this is on the forum, somewhere, but I can't find a definitive answer to these two questions.

I am in LOS on a  one year, Multi O based on Marriage to a Thai.  I don't want to get an extension of stay based on marriage , as it's too much of a hassle, but I  may  want to get a new  one year, Multi O visa.  Do I have yo go back to my home country (UK) to get one, or can I get one locally (to LOS), such as in Malaysia, Laos, Singapore etc.,. My other option is to change my status and apply for an extension of stay based on Retirement, which seems a better option that an extension based on marriage, any pit falls with that I need to be aware of.?

many thanks in anticipation.

No problems in changing the reason for your extension of stay from marriage to retirement - although your wife should then accompany you to the immigration office for your next extension, in case they want to confirm with her that she is content with the change.

If you're after another multi-entry non-O visa for marriage, then Savannakhet would appear to be your destination of choice. No need to return to the UK for one.

Laos does require you to show funds and doesn’t really want to know all they’re interested in is quick turn around tourist visas. There 2 weeks ago

You mean does NOT require, surely. But that only applies to Savannahkhet as Vientienne don't issue them. Others have said that Saigon is okay too, and maybe Hanoi? HK too.
