I was just wondering how you knew that it was not uncommon for the police to ask them to remove their shirts? I would assume that the reason they asked them to do so was to find out if they had anything illicit hidden on their person.

His name is very Algerian according to wikipedia..........Abdel Kader  known as the Emir Abdel Kader or Abdel Kader El Djezairi, was an Algerian religious and military leader who led a struggle against the French colonial invasion in the mid-19th century. He was an Islamic scholar in Algeria.   Seemed like every fourth person I met in Algiers had that name somewhere in the four or five names they had.
