Junta Says Prawit On ‘Leave’ After Heart Bypass

Deputy junta chairman Prawit Wongsuwan grimaces during a news conference March 26 at the Ministry of Defense in Bangkok.

 

BANGKOK — Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan is on leave after undergoing heart surgery, a department spokesman said Thursday.

 

Maj. Gen. Kongcheep Tantravanich, defense ministry spokesman, said that Gen. Prawit, who is also a top junta official, is absent from the office for personal reasons after a coronary bypass.

He is probably bunkered down writing out new versions of where the watches came from in case the anti corruption office don't believe his latest pack of lies.

I am sure there are more then a few out there hoping he doesnt make a full recovery.

I question whether or not this is just a way to get him out of the spotlight.

if he doesnt come back for health reasons, they have effectively publicly sidelined him without any admission of culpability from anyone. Its rather a win win.

he can still exert influence behind the scenes, the thorn is out of the army's, junta's,  government's side.

i do hope he has made plans to dispose of the watches should he perish on the table.

Maybe lend them to someone.

I think this is Bhudda’s sign to quit and go away now. I’d rather see him in prison for corruption, but I’ll take him just disappearing any day. 

Wonder what has lead to his ill health.  Was it poor nutrition, or all the beatings he received as a cadet ?

I agree.  Why now?  Surly the stress (if he ever really had any) is completely gone after his anti-corruption-committee junta buddies gave him a free pass.  Yep, the timing sure is convenient, ain't it?

I suspect he diplomatically organised the invitation for himself to visit the USA. No doubt he pre-arranged his own hospitalization for the operation. That way the public get to fund his travelling and other accommodation and incidental expenses. He only has to stump up the surgeon's fees. Like stealing from a blind man's begging bowl. Crooked as they come.

Ah, the sympathy just keeps on coming.....

Well, the donor would certainly need to be dead; though whether pre- or post-loan is another matter.
