US $ Cashier's check?

Featured Replies

Anybody aware where to get a US$ check for IRS. My friend has accounts with BKK Bank, But they tell him: CAN NOT :-(  THX. all.   MS>

Maybe things have changed but years ago I had no problem getting a US dollar check at Bangkok Bank.   Maybe you should go to the bank yourself and ask.

You can't! If you have a bank account here AND your bank is both willing and able to transact with the US (many are not), you can pay a fee to have them collect on the cheques but it takes about one month. I use CIMB for cashing IRS cheques and it works as I've described, UOB however is disallowed from having any dealings with US banks anywhere, other bank are the same way.

Thank you kindly, BKK Bank told me this morning: Can not.....Will organize online...Regards & Thanks.  MS>

The problem may simply be that the local bank branch won't issue a US$ cashiers check. So my branch of Bangkok Bank told me a couple years ago. But then the nice ladies ordered one for me from the regional office in Siricha. They would have just had it sent over, but I went and picked up there myself and then walked over to a postal service in Robinson's and mailed that sucker. Sorted!
