PHUKET:-- Eight people were injured when a truck slammed head-on into a van in Chalong today (April 25), as the truck driver swerved to avoid hitting a car that had cut across in front of it.

The accident occurred at about midday on Chao Fa West Rd near the Tesco Lotus shopping centre, near where a woman had her leg amputated after a collision there yesterday.

Rescue workers and Chalong Police arrived at the scene to find an Isuzu truck that was delivering laundry on its side, along with a minivan carrying four Chinese tourists, including a 4-year-old boy.

Its a dangerous stretch of road.
People exit the tesco into speeding traffic as well as a gas station about 100 metres up the road.
Doesnt help when the super cheap customers park in the lane making traffic merge into one lane.

It's the same in a lot of their locations- provide a large shop with no parking ad wait for the chaos to begin. Thekasattri Road, and Bang Tao are just two examples. Fortunately Kamala has a small parking area but its the wrong end of town for a lot of people. Surprised they haven't opened a second outlet.

That truck was travelling at a hell of a rate, despite the car cutting across his bows he was a crash waiting to happen.
