The victim also identified the rapists, so how some can blame the police for a setup is also very sad.

As you mentioned just needs to be clarified & after watching the police make them do the re enactment on the news, I have a funny feeling it might not go their way

No judgement on this particular issue, just a comment on a behavioural pattern, that can lead to misunderstandings and a dirty end ! . . . what is the outcome to expect ? Are you serious? Do you imagine any woman out with her boyfriend would choose to be gang-raped by three total strangers in a toilet? ToddinChonburi
Some women do take along time in the bathroom and if the bathroom was located behind the restaurant the boy friend never would have seen them follow. Very sad that she did not fight them probably already had victim written all over her.

You mean you don't think the court will just fine them up B40,000, as allowed by law and let them off the up to 20 year sentence because they had exemplary records as construction workers.
Dogmatix
It seems rather odd that the victim would have agreed to consensual sex with three construction workers in a toilet while her boyfriend was waiting. 1

DefaultName
Could be a cultural thing. She thought she was having a friendly chat over a drink, but from the little I know of the Burmese culture, any woman who did that there WOULD be looking for more. An American probably wouldn't have known that. As to whether it was forced though.................?

Popular Post soistalker
First off, there's a lot of naive tourists who think that part of their glorious first experience overseas is to become friendly wnd familiar with the locals. I have seen white chicks hugging people they don't even know like it is some wonderful connection they've just made with Somchai the local Thai guy or the fruit lady. This is idiotic. Secondly, lengthy conversations with foreign construction workers from an even poorer country than the poor country you are visiting is a stupid thing to get into. And as the boyfriend, it is my responsibility to shut the sh!t down. If they are eyeing up my girlfriend, they are either going to get punched or probably I'd insist we walk away. Last, the boyfriend sat there whilst the girlfriend was followed to the bathroom by all three? The family of that woman should make sure she never sees him again or he is under the ground. That was the most realistic and on point explanation . I see it too ,these backpacking girls fawning all over anyone local. Completely blind to the message they're sending. And yeah the boyfriend is a waste but that's because the guys have the same half assed naive mentality as the idiotic females.

sawadee1947
what was the boyfriend doing in the meantime? I suppose the 3 weren't as fast as "Speedy Gonzales"? So it would have taken a while. JulesMad
She is american, so probably not too smart and most probable lying... Too many so-called facts do not add up: - 3 guys gang rape her in a new world record in a tiny space - bf story is hard to believe (I assume he is american as well) - No sounds?!? (screaming out of fear/pleasure) - No fighting from girl?!? It just doesn't add up.... 1

And of all those, I can't ever remember one time where I ended up sitting at a mini-mart/grocery store drinking and socializing (?) with three Burmese construction workers, or any Burmese construction workers for that matter. I must have missed that part of the tourist routine. Not unusual for Thais drinking out front near roadside to invite you to join them, happened to me many many times when working in Bangkok and also in my village now. Burmese construction workers I cant say but wouldnt imagine any different especially if they have been here a while. Maybe I just have a friendly face.
