Two-pet limit enforced in Plutaluang

SATTAHIP:--Plutaluang has started enforcing a 26-year-old law, with fines up to 5,000 baht, barring sub-district residents from owning more than two unregistered pets.

Anchalee Paengprom, director of the Public Health and Environment Department, confirmed April 26 that the 1992 Public Health Act decree against ownership of more than two cats and dogs is being vigorously enforced again in light of Chonburi being declared a “red zone” for rabies infections.

She said the department has received more than 40 complaints about dogs chasing, barking or biting people. Residents are letting their dogs loose and keeping more than is legally allowed.

A large sign was recently erected in the Sattahip sub-district reminding people about the law. It points out that anyone having more than two animals must take them to the Public Health Department for a checkup and vaccinations.

There is no 26 year old law and this cannot be enforced.... They make it up as they go along.... Not very Buddhist of this dog hating nation. Nor is there such a law to register your pets. The whole fake rabies scare was so that they could go on with there Set Zero campaign of killing all dogs in Thailand. That's until they were caught red handed killing them with rat poison.

We brought our dogs to the city hall where both received a free immunization.

We've also met hundreds of others with pets. Please don't make up some sub stories here.

"The whole fake rabies scare" with fake nurses, fake pets and fake people?

So you enjoy being chased/bitten by potentially rabid vermin and can sleep peacefully while they howl all night.
nobody has been maimed by the accidents caused and of course there is no poop either.
Its a shame the "set zero" policy hasnt been adopted...its badly needed.

Good Idea! Just see to that it spreads, and get enforced all over the country.

Agreed, apart from the feces everywhere on every street, rubbish being torn up looking for food, and general health wise, manky dogs. Should be trapped and culled

Sorry but all cats, dogs and other pets that can roam should be registered to an owner and micro chipped.

Also big discount on registration and micro chipping if the animal is neutered subsidised by higher fees for the un-neutered ones.

Any cats, dogs found on the sois that are not micro chipped should be sent to the canning factory...
