Does anyone know where I can find that girl handing out those coat hangers, because I am very interested in "hanging out" with her.....:sorry:

You would be just a "hanger-on", I'm sure. (I'm sorrier than you!)

This is new??  Actually it is news, why on earth is this employee having to or feeling the need to turn up at a police station and apologise to Joke (very apt name) and Thai society at large?

Huh! I can think of a hundred things more damaging to tourism in LOS than some hired person handing out garlands looking bored.  This appears to be a Chinese media thing though, as if they think

This is disgusting.

I will tell you what will stop damaging tourism, how about an elected government and an end to military rule, how about a safe society with a fair and just legal system, how about the abolition of dual pricing, how about pristine beaches not full of garbage? I cold go on but I will be at it all day.

not saying that the fake smiles somehow damaged tourism, but evidently nothing on your long list has either...

Thais with their fake wai

Thais with their fake just about everything.

This must be a "Big joke"

The 'coat hanger' parody at the end of the video is hilarious.

Obviously a jealous female collegue gave her away, but how can her peers bash her up as such ?

maybe she was cuter and more busty,  then her collegue who snitched on her ?:glare:

I blame the recruitment teams.  They should clarify at any interview that the job involves being genuinely happy, smiley and contrite twenty four hours a day even when you are baking hot and having to wear a stupid costume for hour after hour every single day.  All this for a pitifully low wage too.

Because the FACADE is everything. What's underneath is irrelevant here.

Indeed! It has been the same for years, scratch the glitter off the surface and you will certainly find a turd. At least a forced smile is "Honest"

It is hard to quantify to be fair, for every million that turn up it is possible another million don't based on my list or an extension of my list.

Totally agree with your list [particularly about having a safe society  and fair and just legal system] but I would also add - an end to rampant corruption, of government agencies, police and justice system aiding, abetting and protecting ruthless criminals and the ability to openly and freely expose these scum - without the fear of being punished under Thailand's draconian anti-defamation laws!

Wow get a job for the day??, do what your told by your employer and take the wrap for it.

Thai companies are a joke as is big joke he is getting a big head.

As for Chinese tourists we'l' what can we say about them? * crawling out of  there hut for a 3 day vacation to Thailand

Its all a joke!!, .   And National media attention <deleted>

It's a case of getting the (EASIEST!) priorities right!

Glad we don't have more important matters to deal with !

Yesterday A and B (their real names were not given) met Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal at Don Muang tourist police HQ to apologize for the furor. Surachet id known as Big Joke in the Thai media.

What the **** has this got to do with the Joke publicity hound.

So she was bored and hot and didn't feel like smiling.

Big deal.

Sack her if needed but this ritualised humiliation and public apology for damaging tourism image is pure BS.

She could have had just a bad day.
If a robot, she would smile every day!
So far funny for me, how Chinese can complain about behaviour.
Look at many travellers of your own country first !!!

Apologising for not smiling correctly at work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a load of  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gone off Big Joke now. :bah:

Most immigration officers at the border checkpoints don't smile at anytime.
Do they have to apologize now ?

Look for another job, my lady,...... seriously

I like these two - funny, sulky and authentic. And they managed to produce a smile right on cue for the photographer each time, what's the problem?

apologizing for being human.

Who in the h*** does he think he is? Nothing but a joke. I would love to punch him

I think it is encouraging to see that the Chinese tour groups are not just mindless robots. They can see when their Thai hosts are just going through the motions and respond accordingly. The parodies are quite clever.

If you work in the hospitality industry, whether in Thailand, China or any other country, you are always on show and can never display such boredom verging on contempt. You'll never win return customers that way. Everyone in the tourist industry knows this.

shall I mention apologies for running bulls and skimming off welfare money.

No,
But making a parody about what people do and being called to the police station?

Good that Benny Hill, John Cleese, Iggy Pop and other comedians are not living here...

Poor girl probably traumatized by the bad publicity

Everything big joke does now is just a big joke.

Anything just to make it look like he is seriously fighting crime, bloody pathetic.

Even the wildest stretch of the imagination wouldn't make anything the young lady did into a crime.

Sadly it's looking like he's starting to believe his own "legend" and poking his nose into things which really are none of his business.

Thailand is desperate for first class professional police officers. Does "Big Joke" fit the bill? (Pun intended if you're British!).

What part of Thailand isn't fake?
