Junta to mark coup with video on achievements

The government is producing a video and a publication to present its achievements over the past four years after the military coup in May 2014, Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong said on Thursday.

The public relations material is to be released for the coup’s fourth anniversary on May 22, according to Prajin.

But he said no exact schedule has been set for a press conference that would accompany the release of the video and book.

The video officially details work completed by the 20 ministries over the past four years, according to the deputy PM. It also explains the country’s situation before the coup in May 2014 and mentions what this government has done in tackling the country’s problems, he said.

“There has been peace. The foundations have been established, the roadmap has been set and there is a new constitution,” Prajin added.

The air force chief said the video covers such matters as security, foreign affairs, society, education, public health, tourism, environment, laws, politics and administration. “It ends with the path to a new election,” he added.

The deputy premier said the video’s storyboard has been completed and is going to be presented to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha for approval.

The book also covers the work by the five reform steering committees on public administration headed by the five deputy prime ministers, according to Prajin.

In 2014 he joined the coup-making National Council for Peace and Order while serving as commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Air Force.

Would it include Chinese tanks n submarines, or maybe massive amounts of cash allocated to the army to buy rubber products to ease the rubber farmers woes?

Pretty sure it's the party in the streets (to mark the occasion) that will make better headlines.

No, it will be a short video because it is about all there achievements they have done so it won't belong. Question How many deputy PMs does Thailand have? Are they on the same money as the big deputy PM with all the watches?

...put it this way: not only the police have to buy their positions.  If 100 high (or semi high) ranking promotions per year, were bought under the person managing a ministry or department....the potential "juice" is phenomenal

The election campaign is in full swing I see. Regardless, the video will be remarkebly short, unless of course they are telling porkies.

The video wouldn't last for very long.

Reckon it will need all Disney's talents to make an animation that will rival Ali Baba and the 40 thieves when its finished. Will it have a viewer age rating, say nobody over 12.

Is it a 30 second Rolex video.

Guess it will be a short film

It will be a very very short video.

It wont be an an overly long video!!!!!

The video will be totally blank. One long reel (or huge DVD) of emptiness and nothingness.

For that is what the junta has achieved (as regards positive things) after four years: NOTHING!

This article has been up two hours, and so far we have 18 posts, all negative, p-taking too. What a record the junta have.

I was thinking more 'It'll Be Alright On the Night' type video, highlighting all the cock-ups.

So make that 19 negative posts.

Hate to say it, but that would be a pretty long and extensive video,.....

I expect the first one (tanks/subs) could come under peace and reconciliation, and the second one (rubber) qualifies for economic reform. They genuinely do actually believe the people are stupid.

Don't get your hopes set on a short video.  The junta has put out daily propaganda videos since the coup; they have a lot of practice at glorifying BS.

All this practice hasn't made them good at it, but the video will be long, and will probably pre-empt commercial programming so it can be inflicted on the population.

Ends with the path to a new election election?

Could be a very long video indeed then.

Or a short guide to a very long path.

The videos of protesting students, dissidents being surveilled and journalists being shut will work wonders to the hearts of millions!

Propaganda,a waste of more money, trying to polish the B/s.

I'm really looking forward to the achievements they will claim for education.......definitely little to write about in that field!
