Chinese Tourism Increasing Despite Coercive Guides: TAT Chief

Just remember there are over 2 billion, with a B, Chinese and many want to get out of China to 'see the world'.  In a sense they do not care about coercive guides, they just want to see the world. Thailand ain't seen nothing yet in terms of influx of Chinese. There is a city in Canada that had more Chinese visitors and tourists than the entire population of the city in one year.

Couldn't agree more. 10 million is nothing in terms of numbers of the number that will be coming in 5 years time. Its an absolute boom time for a number of Thai airlines and airports, which the AAT is hopelessly behind in upgrading terminal capacity at a number of airports.

Luckily being in lower Isaan we are well insulated from the Chinese hoards well apart from Phanom Rung just down the road, Buriram race track etc.

20 years ago there was an island in the Mediterranean. called Majorca. It was flooded by cheap tour travelers similar to Thailand now. You could have a week for 99 Pounds all in. (incl flight)  A

Is this considered news? Is this what this country wants, money, money and more money?

And what country doesn't? Tourism promotion is big business in EVERY country.

The deluge is described in the mythological tales of various ancient civilizations as a divinely induced tsunami that aimed to destroy mankind and land animals.

Maybe it's time for a more actual explanation especially if one takes TCM in consideration regarding the animals...

Or in the not so distant past ....the Sun never shines on the British Empire. Tough luck, your time is over...welcome to the Asian century.

If you think Thailand is seeing an influx of Chinese tourists....you ain't seen nothing yet. Look out Europe, but welcome the money for the dying economy and perhaps, maybe, turn around the scourge of the recent 'tourists' arrivals.

The increase in money money money at the expense of hordes of (often uncouth) Chinese package tour

I guess the hordes of uncouth Brits softened them up a bit over the last thirty years.

You can thank Kobkarn for letting in the zero dollar tours and paving the way for the Chinese to establish their tourism mafia here. Quantity won over quality, as she had to make face by touting the numbers. Good riddance, although too late.

Absolutely correct! But what sets TAT apart from most other countries is the fact that they don't seem to understand that there is  such a word as  "DOWN"!

Oh Dear !...better start building really fast a good amount of public toilets for the uncontrolable poo urges !!

Define quality...drunken Euros in singlets riding scooters with no helmets proudly declaring..."ee we don't want your lot  ere lad:?
