BANGKOK, 14th May 2018 (NNT) - The government's spokesman has cleared up any doubts about Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha's decision to suspend his plan to visit the eastern province of Sa Kaeo, saying it has nothing to do with politics.

Government Spokesman Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd has denied Gen Prayut planned to seek the agreement of a veteran politician in Sa Kaeo to join a new political party. Lt Gen Sansern explained that the Prime Minister actually wanted to inaugurate a new border checkpoint with Cambodia's Prime Minister Somdech Hun Sen, but had cancelled the schedule as the Cambodian leader is engaged in other missions.

Lt Gen Sansern said Gen Prayut has known politician, Sanoh Thienthong for a long time but the two were not on familiar terms. The government spokesman asked the media and politicians not to misinterpret the Prime Minister's activities and cautioned them against sparking public misunderstanding, adding voters would choose their representatives out of trust and performance.

I am sure a wily politician (to be kind) like Sanoh whose base is in a border province, knows well the Tigers of the East army faction. No doubt they have mutually aligned interests in that region.
