It'll largely depend upon the circumstances of the application and whether the embassy wishes to interview your wife. The embassy now undertakes to decide as many applications as possible solely on the basis of the documentation submitted, so, on the assumption that this happens in your wife's case, you may have a result within a week of applying. However, if your wife is scheduled for an interview, she will be allocated the first available date which might be in 5-6 weeks.

The visa cost is £260.00, but the embassy effectively decides their own exchange rate, so often the actual cost is higher. The cost of a visa is determined by Parliament.

Come on, think what she gets for it, if she ever has to have NHS treatment she has got her money back many times over. No health insurance premiums, it's a bargain :o

Make a good application first time and it's a one time payment.

The exchequer; although I sometimes think that some people think the ECOs pocket the money themselves!

£260, as explained by Scouse. So, make sure you get it right first time.

Then, 2 years later, you'll need a further £335 so she can apply for ILR!

£335 for postal application or £500 for same day at the centre
