Kiniyeow Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Is there normally a deposit required on a new electric meter for your house? If there is, how long before you can get your deposit back, if ever? Is there a standard price or does it just depend on the local PEA policy?
Crossy Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Yes, there is a deposit, the rates are somewhere on the PEA website, a few 000 Baht. Rates are (supposedly) standardised across all PEA offices. When you close your PEA account at that address (move) your deposit is returned.
Kiniyeow Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 i'll have to see if I can find that on there site. We were just charged 4,600 baht for transferring from a temp meter (for building purposes) to a permanent one. I was under the impression it was about 500-600 for the deposit.
Crossy Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 That actually sounds about right. If the forum search works for you there are a couple of threads with links / tables.
Crossy Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 This is from a 2016 post, but I doubt much has changed.

cornishcarlos Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 I thought the temp meter for building was about 4k plus.. Then a permanent one was about 700 baht ??
