He's been charged with (a) using initials of the late king Bhumibol and his Queen without permission (which he accepts), and (b) running an illegal secret organisation. By corruption, I meant the charges that he supported robbery during the demonstration.

Could be friction between police and military who protected Issara and his corrupted cohorts. Or friction higher up. I agree.Cleaning up the Sangha is just the implausible pretext. BBC Correspondent Jonathan Head has tweeted: "An interesting case. Bu Issara led a faction of the PDRC movement using aggressive, armed guards. Might explain the SWAT-style arrest. Maybe also an element of belated payback for his rough treatment of 2 cops back then. His arrest now suggests powerful people behind it."

Yes Mike, some of the roads are quite straight. Those where the pooyay rush about in minivans with police escorts and flashing lights and "I'm all important so clear out" stuff. Some of those are quite good and don't dissolve into potholes in 6 weeks so everyone can see where the Nai Amphur's 40% went. Apart from that, I have disappointing news...
KiwiKiwi Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 It's sort of a sod's law story really. The army wallahs left destroying buddhism till last. Until now, Thais everywhere bowed down befoe the monks, gave thenm food and alms and money and cars and... and..thought they were all holy and magical and stuff. Now the Army has even taken that away. Now even the proles know (the landed gentry have known it and used it for centuries) that the Thai model of Buddhsim is based on the precepts of everything else Thai. Thieving, Cheating, Lying and Corruption. Expect many suicides and Thais to be heard wailing and gnashing their teeth and beating their breasts on street corners saying " Oh Fee, oh Fie, how could I have been so stupid? I can answer that; being Thai helps.

Even the person who lodged the 112 complaint 12 months ago had given up on it. Apparently someone 'influential' odered it. Now since the most Prayuth can say against it is the police should be careful when monks are involved. I think we can safely say it wasn't him who ordered it. So who has enough influence that Prayuth dare not countermand or speak against it and the police can act with imopunity? Unafraid of the government? Personally, I think I know who it was, and thst is a fascinating story of Uncle Too getting his comeuppance. Even the polls done by NIDA and DUSIT are showing reversals of extraordinary magnitude and speed. I think the wheels are falling off Uncle Too's little red wagon. Expect more and merrier tidings as the tumbril lumbers on. About time too,. 1
