Phang Nga’s main link to Phuket underwater after heavy downpour

A main road linking Phang Nga to Phuket was underwater on Saturday morning following hours of heavy downpours.

At 8am Saturday, the section of Phetkasem Road linking Phang Nga’s Takua Pa district to Phuket was under 40- to 50-centimetre-high water. The area in front of the Bang Muang petrol station was flooded for about 800 metres and became impassable to small cars.

Police and workers from a local foundation were deployed to send motorists to a bypass road avoiding the flooded section.
