28 injured in bus accident in Phichit

A Bangkok-Phitsanulok bus overturned in Pichit early on Saturday after ramming into the rear of a truck, injuring 28 people, police said.

The accident happened at 3:30am on the highway No 117 of the Nakhon Sawan-Phitsanulok section in Ban Nong Sadao village in Tambon Nong Sadao of Phichit’s Vajira Baramee district.

The Phitsanulok Yarnyont bus driven by Mana Pongsri flipped, and the 10-wheel truck driven by Yaichan Klinhom fell partially into the roadside ditch. The impact scattered steel bars carried by the truck over the road.

Rescuers rushed 13 injured people to Vajira Baramee Hospital, 14 to Sam Ngam Hospital and one to Phichit Hospital.

Passenger Aimwika Khannak said she noticed that the bus was stopping on the roadside every now and then. She said the accident happened while most passengers were sleeping.

Police said the bus left Bangkok at 11pm and was scheduled to reach the Phitsanulok bus terminal at 4am. Police have yet to identify the cause of the accident.

Brain failure yet again

"Police have yet to identify the cause of the accident."

Go look in the mirror.

Police yet to identify the cause-- why bother it won't make the slightest difference to the outcome, plus they are not capable of anything constructive by way of investigative analysis anyway.

Just put it in the brake failure slot - problem solved.

So it did a full 360 to end up in the ditch, upright.

All the above, plus SSDD!

"bus was stopping every now and then"

Now that could be one of two either he was catching up on his REM sleep or he has bladder issues ( prostatism ) both of which could be contributory issues. I guess it's a change from "brake failure" as the usual culprit but no excuse.

When will these people learn? Taking charge of an oblong metal box on wheels demands more than a cursory " I can do it - watch me"!!!    Life so cheap here.

Probably another break failure or the truck make something wrong!

FIFY

Non-existing grey brain cells were the cause of the accident.

These drivers are a danger for all, nor just for the passengers. I hope that all will have a full and speedy recovery.

  LOS Land of Sadness.

Maybe his break wasn't long enough?

Driver fell asleep and so no brakes.

I would never go by bus at night. Unless I wanna die

.......has bladder issues.    So could be adult pampers fail .  I too would need adult pampers if I travelled anywhere at night on the roads.

Man, the article said the bus flipped?  The photo shows it upright.  Lucky.  I took the bus from Mo chit to Sukhothai but I went during the day. It was a fine ride.  The bus stopped for lunch about half way through the trip.  I enjoyed the scenery looking out the window.  I won't be taking any night time bus drives in Thailand ever again. I did the 12 plus hour trip from Khon Kaen to Phuket once.  Even on a VIP bus with reclining full seats, that was miserable.  The ride was so jerky with stop and gos I didn't get much sleep.

Going in daytime you can die as well
