BANGKOK, 26 May 2018 (NNT) – BMW has unveiled its investment plan for plug-in Hybrid cars in Thailand as a booming market boosts the manufacturing of environmentally friendly automobiles.

Mr Christian Wiedmann, President of BMW Group Thailand, said BMW currently has no plans for investing in electric vehicles or EVs as it is yet necessary to study Thai consumers’ behaviors first.

Currently, the company is investing in plug-in hybrids after a remarkable success with plug-in hybrid vehicle sales rising by 44 percent during the first four months of this year, he said.

BMW Thailand has cooperated with Central Group, AP (Thailand) PCL and GLT Green, to operate the Charge Now project, a commercial charging network for all plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles of any brand and model. In the first phase, up to 50 charging locations at Central and AP properties will be set up for motorists.
