Don: European nations preparing for Gen Prayut’s visit

BANGKOK, 27 May 2018 (NNT) – European countries are preparing for Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha's planned visit in June.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai said today the Thai premier will travel to European nations next month to visit several countries. Gen Prayut’s visit to Europe was originally scheduled for May, but due to his busy schedule, his trip had to be postponed.

The Foreign Ministry and the host countries are yet to determine the exact date of Gen Prayut’s visit, according to Don.

The European Union late last year announced that it would resume political contact at all levels with Thailand after putting relations on hold following the 2014 coup by the Thai military.

Since the announcement, Thailand has welcomed many European diplomats and attaches including those from England, Italy, and France.

In March 2018, Don visited EU headquarters and met with a number of high-ranking officials such as the deputy prime minister of Belgium and his Italian counterpart.

Lastly, he said European nations are looking forward to meeting the Thai Prime Minister and discussing a wide array of matters.

There is no mention of him meeting any head of states. Meetings diplomats and deputy prime ministers mean nothing in the real world.

I wonder if he'll get shaken down by customs with his duty free? I suppose he could tell them filled it up with water...

Is quieting those pesky nuisances demanding democracy taking up too much time? Easy solution. Hold fair elections and abide by the results. Then, he will have plenty of free time to visit anywhere.

We on Thaivisa often complain about the pusillanimity of the Thais - but the same could be said in this connection about the European nations - who have not got the moral principle and guts to refuse to have any dealings with this man until he has restored to the Thais the democracy that he stole.

Instead, Europe just goes on appeasing and appeasing this individual and his gang. Has Europe learned nothing from 20th century history?!

how smug is that smile when the real world knows what he and his lot have done

Makes one want to puke, doesn't it?

Yep, I´ve heard that it´s going to be a big party. All the clown suits are sold out. Pinoccio masks are out, and there is not a tivoli to rent in all Europe during this time.

I am sure all the military bands and marching soldiers are practicing like crazy to prepare for such a high value visitor.

?

Any reports of an unusual high number of officials on a sick leave?

Yes I suspect the Europeans will be getting very excited,?

No they wouldn’t be. They are preparing for the World Cup. Only low level trade diplomats will be available to see him.

I am sure that they are all excited about this visit and that Macron, Merkel and May are quarelling because they want to be the first one to greet the good PM in Europe. ?

It will be interesting to see who does actually meet him.

But somehow, I think most EU member leaders won't be bothered much by the World Cup for football, unless their nations team wins! More like a chance to cross swords with Putin or deal with their own at home issues. Least the Italians don't have to worry about football and can concentrate on their constitutional crisis!

Wonder how many will go with to Europe in the entourage?

I'm sure all European nations are preparing for Prayut's visit, especially as the dates haven't been announced!

I think Europeans are more interested in Shira Law being imposed on Tommy Robinson and no reporting the truth.Whats that about.?

I would assume both representatives of the Euro paper-clip manufacturers will be there.

Mr Prayuth is only doing his job as ordered...and he does it well. BKK was a warzone and he made if safe again.

I hope hes filled in his Visa Request properly along with 300 Copies of the same forms should he need an extension Thai Style. The Need to return home bit may raise a few eyebrows amongst lefty Brits..

Mr. Prayuth has only one legitimate boss that has the right to 'give him orders": the Thai people. And they most certainly have not ordered him to do anything - least of all to crush all their basic human and civil rights!

We can only hope he gets some uncomfortable questions and is looked down upon for the military appointed shills in parliament.   Prayuth is a disgrace to the average Thai.

Steve.... Steve.... is that you Steve?  Long time no post, if so.

But he will have to buy his own ticket and get a visa.

No, they generally have people cleaning every day

Please inform us who is giving the junta leader orders and how you now what these orders are.

Probably been told he needs to buy a European football team to help his popularity with the masses.

Making sure all the toilets flush properly would be about all he ought to be able to expect. This guy representing Thailand is a tragedy.
