Trump says Mexico will eventually pay for border wall

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized Mexico for not helping to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States and repeated his campaign promise that Mexico will pay for building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

 

"In the end, Mexico is going to pay for the wall," Trump told supporters in a campaign-style rally in Nashville, Tennessee. "They do absolutely nothing to stop people from going through Mexico, from Honduras and all these other countries ... They do nothing to help us."

 

Mexico has said it would not pay for a border wall.

That's odd! Last time I checked I thought the Mexican president told him to go forth and multiply. He didn't use quite that many words of course, but the sentiment was pretty clear.

Mexico says "We will pay for your f%<#>€^g wall mañana." Rather than critized others Trump should take his own advice and keep the illegal border crossers from leaving the USA for Canada. Too bad he is too thick to get the irony of what he says.

The tax would be paid by Americans, not Mexicans. Might impact how much is bought from Mexican firms, but won't be a tax paid by Mexicans. Wake up and smell the coffee

But I do agree that Mexico will never pay for any wall built by the US.  And quite rightly so.  If a country/region decides that a wall is necessary - it's down to the country/region to pay for it.

The concept of charging Mexicans (not US citizens) a direct service fee to cross legally, Mex to US, is a good idea, in theory.  They would be outraged.  Maybe the legal crossers would rise up and protest en masse, demanding their government cooperate and do more. 

 

I don't think Jose Six Pack has the huevos or inclination to do that, though.  Also, their government isn't a push over like the US.  I'm quite sure the Mex government's response would be tit for tat, charging (Americans) to cross US to Mex.  Where THAT money would actually wind up is likely a no brainer.

 

End of the day, Trump's pay for the wall rhetoric is counter productive against the machismo.   It simply allows them to feign outrage publicly as a means to avoid acknowledging their end of the problem and take responsibility for it publicly.  That would be a dangerous new precedent best avoided.   God forbid Mexico finally has to get its shit together.  No, much easier to remain a proverbial shit hole, which guarantees the world's continued low expectations.

The congress has sold out and stopped even TRYING to hide their treasonous acts, the supreme court just this week ruled in favor of protecting corporations in the matter of employee grievances, 200,000 gallons of oil just spilled on the tribal land from an illegal pipeline, and the list goes on. Still, The Great Cheeto diverts your attention with his antics. He's an experienced con man doing what he knows best and he's making MILLION$ in doing so.

Yes, but he just barely won the elections, and his support rating aren't going up. So while not being optimistic about the remaining bit of his term, kinda doubt we'll see a re-run. Assuming he completes his term, that is.

nearly as scary as the establishment  leftie voters being blind  to everything except fake news 555 . the wall will be built and it will ending up costing mexican citizens  . I am not a TRUMP SUPPORTER  or any supporter , just a person who can see

when Mexican wares are shipped to US for sale they will be stopped at the border or airports and asked to pay tax.  US citizens will pay the usual VAT at POS. Don't worry. Don't forget Trump is a business man,  not a complete idiot with billions of dollars. love to you all.

The wall will be build . He still has 6,5 years. Like Trump said before , they can tax money flows TO Mexico , from all the Mexicans that send money home and companies.

It's really much bigger than that. Certainly almost all of the restaurant industry including the high end places.
