Snatcher Arrested on Beach Road

The tourist police volunteer officers succeeded in capturing Nophadon, who had just committed a gold snatching from a foreigner in front of Tip Plaza, on 28th January at 11.20 am, but the other culprit managed to escape.

When searching Nophadon, the police found a knuckle-duster so arrested him. Nophadon told the police that he and his friend were drinking together in the area of Tip Plaza. They didn’t have enough money to pay for their drinks so they escaped to the Beach Road, where they saw Mrs. Rocpeva, a Russian lady together with her friend. The two ladies looked like they had a lot of money so the culprits decided to snatch a gold necklace from one of the ladies.

Mrs. Rocpeva cannot communicate with the police, and luckily, Mr. Fasseha, a kind 64 year old Italian who is a Pattaya resident, helped translate. He saw what happened and also helped chase after the culprits until the police made their arrest.

Unfortunately, the other thief got away with the gold necklace worth 15,000 Baht, but the police are trying to get more information out of Nophadon as to the other thief’s whereabouts.
