Eight die in motorway crash

Eight people were killed and four others wounded in a multiple-vehicle crash at Chonburi on the Bangkok inbound lane of Motor Way on Friday everning.

 

The accident involving an 18-wheel truck, a 10-wheel-truck, a sedan and a pick-up truck at the 57+800 kilometre marker took place at 7pm, resulting in a severe traffic jam.

I am sorry for the  dead peoples' families, but am curious as to why the scene is in  broad daylight at 7pm on Friday June 1st.  Isn't it nearly dark at that time down in Chonburi area?

Well it did inconvenience many hi-so's heading for their weekend away in Pattaya and like places.

Although I can't find an exact description it's obviously a wrong time.

Some sources say 18:00h, other 18:30h.

The images in the reports show that it gets dark during the rescue/clean up.

So 18:00h could be correct.

It sounds like a small 6 wheeler broke down due to a tyre burst.

A group of workers in that truck waited for another company truck to repair/pick them up.

It's unclear to me whether the 6 wheeler was on the driveway or on the shoulder.

But the 18 wheeler rammed the broken down truck at full speed and killed all workers on site.

The other damages must be "collateral".

I've seen a strange accident on my way to work this morning. A pick up truck hit a motorbike that had to wait for green light. Four cars smashed into each other because nobody ( as usual) paid attention.

 

  And to top that another female scooter driver smashed into the last vehicle with high speed.

 

   I had no time to stop, was already late for work and hope that they are all okay.  

 

  The crashing bones were not the sound I'd appreciate to wake me up. Time for some driver training.

It's not irrelevant how relatives are trying to kill themselves. My wife's brother tried it twice after his wife had left him with the two sons. But you don't care, that's oaky. 

 

 I do care from time to time and wouldn't want a don't care society around me. 

 

   You'll care when it's affecting you, or your loved ones, believe me. 

 

Thais doing what Thais seem to do best - killing themselves and innocent others in the name of the Road God.

I was wondering... It had been a relatively quiet few days on the vehicular road deaths front.  But in the end, the law of averages is always going to prevail.

 

RIP to the victims here and all the other senseless, avoidable road deaths around these parts.

Todays massacre by yet another terrorist truck driver.

 

The driver ultimately being an agent of the regimes, in its purest sense,.....carelessness.

Around here ( countryside) i often watch the locals on their bikes and looking "ahead" is  only about 35% of where their heads usually are, the rest of the time its either left or right, incredible to see "how  long" they arent  looking ahead.

Then theres  the "surprised"  look as  I go round a corner with them over on my side and the motorbike thinks "no one else" is on  the road, daily occurrences .

I like the startled  look and ensuing panicked swerve.

You have to feel sorry for these rescue guys who deal with this carnage on a daily basis up and down the country.

Take care, we must reach at least the average of 2017!

Thai government could not be bothered so there is nothing anybody can do. Just let the killing continues......

They are still slow learners regarding road safety, it will take another million deaths before the leaders of this country get off their ass.

None! When things happen on a daily base they are considered 'normal' after a while.

This such a regular occurrence in Thailand the article mentions a traffic jam as if that is significant when 8 people have died

Yeah, I know. It´s thoose traditional types, that ain´t aware of all the new fantastic and modern things that awaits the ones who would open their eyes.

..i think you mean 'injured'...not 'wounded'...well it is like a war-zone out there..RIP the deceased and hope others heal quickly.

RIP. Its up to the people to decide whether they want to continue the road carnage or not. Until people take ownership and responsibility for their personal safety and the safety of their community , then these accidents will continue. Speed, apathy towards obeying road rules, lack of driving skills, poor vehicle maintenance and zero care factor for other people all contribute to these tragedies.
