If you're really set on this, do a TESOL or CELTA, you will get a job that will feed and house you. I did one back in 2011, and I'm now earning 200,000+ baht a month. It's a fairly niche thing I'm doing now, and I got lucky, but it is possible.

well I'd definitely wash dishes if it meant I could live in Thailand but as you should, its illegal, so I'm sure it wouldn't last long, not worth it..

Hi bozo,

they are "really anal" about foreign workers here.

not like Europe where you can cheat and skimp by, no one cares.

here everyone points and comments if your seen working, even mending a fence in your garden. Keep that in mind. If no work permit, Your gonna be stuck with low pay teaching gigs, or youtube video ad type stuff.

but when it's all said and done a man finds a way either way. Some are like mobey dick and go out fighting, others masturbate, or just drink on a bar stool.

But who says they can't all find paradise in their own way, man.

You make your money in Europe, and spend them in Asia. Rule nr 1. Anything else is at the best a good experience and adventourus, and good life experience, but still considering your challenges, you have to fix your medical situation first. It could quick be a one way ticket, as you already have stated.

If I were you, I'd take the redundancy money,  put aside some money for rent and food for a few months and enroll is a government sponsored trade school. There are openings for the skilled trades such as electricians and plumbers. There is also a need for ambulance drivers, paramedics, orderlies and nursing assistants.

Get one of these jobs and you will make enough to visit SE Asia 2X or more  a year.

I thing this section of your post is sincere and possibly helpful.

I believe what the poster is seeking is not so much how to live but rather how he can  "get a life".

I can see why you worked as a kitchen porter.

Now, I certainly appreciate that the sky is the limit and that young people can do anything, but unless you have some job skills that  they need in SE Asia, or lots of money ( e.g. 1 million pounds +) your prospects are limited, very limited.

Here are the types of jobs available for unskilled UK labour in SE Asia;

-Time share tout (might last 6 months)

- Call center salesman (aka boiler room)

- Toyboy/sexual companion. If you are capable of satisfying elderly people you may be able to attract the attention of someone. It will most likely be a  male, so you may wish to practice  satisfying the desires of men before you arrive, so that you will be  ready.

- Adult films (Sporadic, but  2/3 roles would be for male targeted audiences. and you better have the anatomy for it too.)

- Drug courier (This is illegal and has a high failure rate. The death penalty applies  in much of SE Asia if caught and even if leniency given, it could be 20+ years in a nasty prison, so it is recommended to avoid. Don't do drugs when in SE Asia. even if someone promises you  lots of dosh and easy women.)

- Organ donor - Many elderly Europeans need  organs and  although a trade in organs is illegal, this has never stopped anyone in SE Asia from buying a kidney.

- Thug and petty thief (Shortened life expectancy)

If I were you, I'd take the redundancy money,  put aside some money for rent and food for a few months and enroll is a government sponsored trade school. There are openings for the skilled trades such as electricians and plumbers. There is also a need for ambulance drivers, paramedics, orderlies and nursing assistants.

Agree, and I add, please don't assume Asia / Thailand is Utopia and life is totally laid back and easy.

There is no utopia, please keep that in mind.

I loved the movie, but don't remember the part where he asked permission.

if your into personal validation though Thailand is a great place to be if you want to answer questions about your personal plans from other expats. It's everywhere and inescapable.

I've only read the first and last pages of this thread, so don't know what you've been told. So I'll just throw up my suggestion anyway - work double shifts back home for 6 months, live like an ascetic (I was going to say monk but you'd need more money for that - LOL) then spend 6 months in Thailand. Two friends do (or did) this - one was a heating engineer who would stay with friends while working for 6 months, piling up the overtime. The other worked double shifts as a taxi driver in Liverpool while staying with his folks. They did this for several years (before I lost touch with them). One critical point: keep some of that severance pay for medical coverage.

PS: Guess you'd need to check the visa situation first, however. I don't know how it works these days.

OK, dick,

I get it.   I think you are not just a very young person but highly immature as well.

I'll  pause to  reflect on that for all your  future posts on this forum.

Enjoy your time in the Kingdom if you even manage to  visit here.

no I had a bad bicycle fall, landed on a stone/rock road going down hill, landed hard on the left side of Hip/pelvis, then months later had hard sex with a pattaya bar girl 3 times in one night and then my pelvic issues started, and yes I don't have an std. I believe the bike fall done something to my left side of my pelvis and the hard sex marathon was the nail in the coffin .. symptoms have been tingling on my perineum, painful or frequent urination, nerve pain in rectum or penis, muscle entrapment's in rectum, perineum pain, pubic area discomfort etc... luckily its not 24/7 but I haven't felt normal down in my pelvic area in almost 2 years now.

The human body is designed to have sex. It's a genetic built in to ensure the survival of the species. I don't think sex had anything to do with your problem, unless you did it so "hard" you caused injury to her as well, and you don't mention that.

Whatever, you need medical help, not comments on a public chat forum.

My advice is that you need to sort it before you make any permanent move to SEA, as trying to sort it here would be very expensive and you would probably not get insurance that included complications from that condition, unless you pay a great deal extra.

Not even similar. Alcohol kills a body as it's a poison. Sex, on the other hand is an extremely enjoyable activity, and as long as not doing it unprotected with persons liable to have AIDS is not going to kill one.

you need to watch the Movie Shame with Michael Fassbender, about a guy who's a porn/sex addict,, it is not a great addiction to have that's for sure, I'm sure many guys in Pattaya/Bangkok/Phuket have lost everything or maybe even killed themselves because of sex addiction, they go there, spend all their money on sex and alcohol, can't control themselves, then they end up homeless or they jump off their hotel balcony.

sorry for the suicidal negative posts on here I'm just having issues with my pelvic issue, can't really empty my bladder fully, so I pee but after I feel some left but i can't get it out so I have to try and squeeze out the urine..annoying as hell, only worse at bed time when need to sleep.

think I figured it out..sneezing, hayfever making me sneeze a lot, when I sneeze my messed up tight pelvic muscles contract or tighten up even more, maybe some inflammation occurs and I think that's causing the urine issue therefore giving me suicidal thoughts. Normally I'm in Thailand in the summer and I don't have any hayfever symptoms in Thailand, so I didn't see this kind of issue happening.

for the people saying I need to fix this before I go to Thailand for work, I don't think I can go through with that again, tried it before and it didn't help, ok yeah I go see a different kind of specialist but it will take months and months, maybe a year to get a diagnose, and only 2 options will occur, surgery or physio because I know its a mechanical issue with the pelvic bones being at of place after the Bicycle fall impact on my left hip and low back.

if there's no cure for sciatica then I doubt they can cure me, its a dog eat dog world as they say, some people have bad luck, get health problems, that's life, it's a cruel world.

I also have Tinnitus and poor posture (hunch back, forward head posture) due to being hunched over a sink for 7 + years washing pots, which adds to my 'my life sucks' attitude.

the only way I think I could live a happy life is in Thailand or Vietnam or something,  for some reason my pelvic issues ease off slightly when I'm in Thailand, maybe because of diet or something ? I can easily get a beautiful girlfriend and that would make me happy too (never had a girlfriend before).

but I do also have some mental health issues which may be obvious to tell on this forum, so that might get in the way of me making sensible smart decisions for myself and my life.

got a missed call yesterday from an employer for the kitchen porter job I applied for when I was having doubts about my plan for SEasia

I don't think I'll call them back, I need to man up as someone said, and just go and stick with my plan, plus I've already paid for the one way flight and meal around £200 all together.

I've just taken redundancy from being a Kitchen Porter, don't think I'd want to do that job again for another year in cold miserable England, even though its better pay more hours etc..

One-way ticket from UK to Thailand for 200 pounds. Really? And what's the nonsense about 'and meal'. None of it makes sense and Thai immigration not to mention UK check-in will not be convinced by a one-way ticket purchased by a 26 year-old. I'm suspecting this is a wind-up troll thread.

Read back a couple of posts and "suspecting" will become redundant. This guy pops up under different names every now and then when he feels bored and wants to toy with the board members -- I've fallen for his posts a couple of times, but not worried as they can be a bit of fun. And sometimes they elicit information that can be of use to others, so no real harm done.

yes really, £30 for London to Copenhagen, and £170 for Copenhagen to Bangkok,  its not direct so thats why its cheap, its with Norwegian Air, by 'and meal' I mean I had to buy my meals on board on the plane....

and I've always gone to Thailand with a one way ticket, never had an issue, just goes to show what you know...

no not a troll, I've never lied or made a fake topic, everything that's happened to me is real, but sometimes I will post topics for the fun of it like' bar girl invites me to go on holiday with her, is this a scam',...honestly it happened but I didn't need any help with the situation, I just post the topic for the fun of it.

Your post #107 stretches the bounds of credibility. Plus your comments and writing style are very familiar, reminiscent of previous posters stretching back quite some time. You're also remarkably calm and collected in your replies, and calculating -- the mark of someone playing a game. Gosh, calm, collected and calculating. Ah well, as I said, it's basically harmless and does draw out some interesting responses.

It's very easy to be hypnotized by the free and paid pussy in Thailand. Especially as a 20 year old. And end up broke.

Enjoy 2-3 weeks here. Make sure you have a return flight paid for.

Go back to the UK, and acquire a trade. Electricians and diesel mechanics are in demand worldwide. Especially in remote areas, such as oil rigs and mines. Well paid.

Save and invest until you have enough capital to generate enough income while you sleep.

THEN, come to Thailand full time. BUT leave your capital in the UK.

Good luck. Don't forget to pack condoms.

They don't have condoms here.....

Thats what I think to, If you do not find it where your chances is at the best, you will not find it anywhere else.

Anyway, he got it all figured out, and not open to any inputs at all, and I have to agree, that the troll have been in my backhead from beginning. But, when you realize you have with a Kid with social problems, suicidel, it makes it a bit more delicate to answer. Im surprised the mods did not shut this one down a week ago.

The trolling doesn't stop does it? Looks like our imaginary 26 year-old dishwasher with myriad health problems with a travel bug has been found out.
