The Phuket light-rail-project is now in the process of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) update while the Patong tunnel project is hunting for investors.

 

A meeting’s been held between the Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong and Wilairat Sirisoponsil, the deputy director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP).

 

Ms Wilairat says, “the Phuket light rail project is to built from Baan Tha Noon in Phang Nga, north of the island, to Chalong Circle with a proposed 39 billion baht budget.

Does anyone actually believe either of these projects will happen? I bet they haven't considered the LRP be connected to the proposed new airport.

I thought you have to go to higher grounds in case of a tsunami. So how does a tunnel help there? The current situation seems much safer where you just go up the hill.
