mogandave
KFC is southern fried. So says the colonel.Actually I understand the Colonel called it “Kentucky Fried”...In any event, it’s definitely not Southern fried, it’s deep fried under pressure. Depends on where you are and what new services are being constructed in your area. Lots of new high speed trains and new motorways and new industrial parks in some areas that employ poor people. Can't find common labor and have to import millions of people from Burma and Lao. How many foreign laborers (poor people) is Thailand now employing? There's estimated to be around 5 million migrant labourers in Thailand, around 3 million of them from Myanmar, they mostly do the jobs that Thai's don't want to do such as construction work. https://thailand.iom.int/labour-migration Almost every country in the world has similar to one degree or another.

They've experimented with various slogans but I just Googled and notice as you say they are using Kentucky Fried Chicken today. And I might add, strangely enough, I find KFC in Thailand much tastier than in my home country.

Everybody I know from those areas have left to come to the busier cities for better education, jobs and lifestyle. Chicago and Detroit are not great either, but other areas are booming... Everything and the world revolves around the great Metropolis that is Bangkok, hey? And everything DOES NOT have to revolve around the horror that is BKK and it's central, all encompassing power and greed.

You sound like you've only lived here five minutes. You are talking nonsense. They employ foreign labour because locals they are too bone ideal, useless and lazy to do a proper days work. The construction industry in Thailand would grind to a halt if the Burmese left. For the vast, vast majority things are far from great.

Now you say that is not a lot but she buys 5 bottles a week 500 baht extra she has to find. What does she do?Jack up her prices so Thais don't eat any more or just grin and bear it. So far the price of beer, wine, whiskey and most food items just keep going up. She uses all of them. What did Thais workers get in return to cover these increases a lousy pay rise I think 7 baht Correct me if I am wrong? But it was not worth mentioning. Seen it all before Mike in Aus Wages growth 2.7% Electricity and fuel rises over 20% Before it was the excuse by the big companies " These rises are necessary because of wage rises" Now what is there excuse? Well, they have gone all quiet but still jack up prices. Its called Greed Here it is the Junta doing the bidding of those greedy rich bas tards who keep them in power by hiking up the prices to screw the ordinary Thais to increase profits All I can say be warned Thailand's junta poverty and oppression creates a Fidel Castro. And Castro successfully ran one of the world's least successful economies in the past century. His dependence on the Soviet Union was legendary, and once that collapsed, so did Cuba. The poverty there was astonishing. I visited many times, and it was difficult to see the Cuban people, who I so like and admire, in that position. Little P. is leading his own people in that direction, though nowhere near as extreme. He is incompetent beyond one's wildest imagination, and has only appointed people who are equally incompetent. The lies and fabrications about 1% or 2% inflation are offensive, to most of us, who see right through the fiction. Same in the US. Same nonsense, and rampant inflation, everywhere I look. It is sometimes hard to catch one's breath, at the pace of rising prices.

There's no escaping the fact that Bangkok is the single largest concentration of people in the country and the largest contributor to the economy, we may not like that but it remains a fact.

BKK population is 12.2 mill, Thailands population is 65 mill. That doesn't seem to me to be unfairly balanced either as a percentage of the population or of GDP, but that's just a surface level look see.
