Are these elected positions?  Why are people electing such old farts to these positions?  We need young, energetic people with progressive, fresh ideas to move the country forward.

Sorry mate, you obviously are new to the politics of this country.   No one has been elected to govern this country for 5 or so years.   They are all military approved appointees.

Breaking news! 22 May 2014 there was a military coup in Thailand.

Nobody elected these wealthy sh it-sippers.

They were appointed by the Frog Whisperer and PTB to pass draconian laws throwing Thailand back to its "Golden Age" of an absolute monarchy,  slavery and abject poverty for the masses.

These clowns (all military) show up in their colourful Mini-Me outfits to sleep through the pilfering of the nation they are helping to destroy...

Grammar

Okay I guess I knew that, having been here for seven or eight years already.  But I'm referring to the positions - meaning (when we get back to a normal government), will these seats be occupied by elected officials?  For whatever it's worth, I feel the same way about the USA.  Sixty and seventy year-olds need to be on the front porch of their country cottage napping, not falling asleep at the wheels of government.

“[They] distorted the work of our five rivers of power,”

What work, they're obviously sleeping.

Such a putz!

Like your post but you forgot to mention the jet black dyed hair too ?

Are you DARING to suggest that they are less than virile examples of (strictly heterosexual) manhood and that they dye their hair (singular)...?

Speaking of "Sorry mate, you obviously are new to the politics of this country" 555 You're close, mate, but not quite there: Start counting in decades rather than 5 or so years and you'd be getting even closer, then find out who's the big boss of the military (Prior to r a m a d u n c e) and you'd be more informed yourself. ?

Love all the Dr. Evil suits.

It's the new "La Tyrannie" Spring '18 Collection.

Are the assortment of bright jelly bean colours meant to trick the population into believing that this mob has their best-interests at heart?

Prayut said. “Corruption is not about the system. It all depends on people.”

That is incorrect. Fighting corruption is about making the system incorruptible - checks, balances and accountability.

Thailand has got a long way to go if the leader of the country actually believes this! Hopefully it was a misquote or something was lost in the translation.

The only thing that was "lost" in translation was approximately 10 billion baht....

Shouldn't the headline be "NLA Under Fire for Media Napping Pics" ?

The PM has appointed these chaps to the highly-paid positions. One assumes these are the best and the brightest?

Each position has a minimum of five (5) subordinate positions for family. Best not to see what they're up to?

Actually, I've been here for over 18 years during which time a number of general elections have been held; all of which were won by the same core party - the Shinawatras.   Trouble is that the "old guard" don't like them and didn't vote for them at the ballot box.

To get back control they engineered political and / or military coups in order to take back the reins of power.   And quite right too as it is obvious from the title of the democratic process that it is Generals who should be elected.

But you are right about having to go back decades.   How else would Thailand be able to retain the proud record of having ousted more ballot box elected governments by coups since WW2 than any other country ?
