Thai Tax on UK pensions
Agree 100% & I'm giving serious thought to selling my UK House that same year which would raise Capital Gains that would certainly be assessable (Even after the CGT I would need to pay on it in the UK) but I also believe that, currently, the Tax "Experts" have no more information than us laymen so (personally I) wouldn't consult one until the situation is much clearer (I don't need to make a decision until 2026 so happy to sit back & see what happens). As an aside Thailand's visas have changed so much in the past 6 months It would be silly of me to decide exactly what I'm going to do in 18 months, the LTR could (I'm not for 1 minute suggesting it would) lose it's "Tax Free" remittances or the Non-IMM O could morph into a 5 year Visa/Extension With tax free remittance of pensions (Which to me makes absolute sense to me for a DTA country). But the plan at the moment, is to do an Hotblack Desiato in 2026 🙂 -

apartments with an oven ?
If you can't afford one just ask the 7-11 to heat your meals. They have a microwave there. It's free. -

Human-Induced Climate Change Creates Olympic "Heat Dome" Crisis
No tech for that unfortunately. Try to power a Canadian winter with current solar tech. More energy hits the earth every day than we would currently know what to do with. However greed is a funny thing. -

Do you know anyone on dodgy ground ? In danger ?
I've made sure I am worth more to my GF alive than dead. Not telling anyone how much you have is a good start. -

She's smart enough to go from prosecutor to VP, then Democratic candidate. Just how far did you get up the corporate or government ladder? Checkout chick, maybe? -

The Investing Year Ahead
"The official narrative for the sell off is that recent data suggests that the U.S. is now in a recession, or is about to be. How anyone didn’t know that long ago is beyond me". I don't quite agree with the above. 3 to 4 weeks ago, the narrative was rather "Tech stocks are well supported by strong earnings and the rate cut by the FED come September will put a floor underneath anyway" . It shows the "vulnerability" of the markets. All it took were a few numbers that were below "expectations" and everything went south (International Stocks, Industrial Commodities. The US$. Even Gold caved in on Friday). That raises the question: How to "diversify" if "everything" goes south at the same time for the same reasons? - Appearantly the word economy can not live with elevated interest rates. The world economy needs "free money" (the worst of all addictions). Not to worry. It's an election year. The FED will provide "free money" once more. Regardless how high or low the inflation rate will be. -

Good for them. Any photos of the Harehills locals doing the same after their riots or did they leave it to the council? -

Human-Induced Climate Change Creates Olympic "Heat Dome" Crisis
It's pretty simple in Australia's case. We get so much sunshine we could probably power most of the world.
