Assembly’s Lopsided Votes Are Feature, Not Bug: Member

Members of the junta-appointed National Legislative Assembly, or NLA, read from a book in January during a parliamentary debate session.

BANGKOK — More than three quarters of the bills made into law by junta-appointed legislators have been passed without a single vote of opposition, according to a legal reform advocacy group.

The Internet Reform Dialog group found that 77 percent of 292 bills have been passed in their third reading without a single nay, a statistic one prominent assembly member says is misleading as it only focuses on the outcome rather than process of deliberation.

That's not a bug or a feature, it's a failure to allow freedom of thought or opinion.

What opposition???

Well who would have thought?

It's an administration of bullies, liars and watch wearing cheats, no democracy here.

No one would dare say a "nay" to any bill approved of by the PM. Unless of course the token "nays" were pre-arranged beforehand to make this sham show look like it might be authentic.

It is neither a bug nor a feature, it is a collection of senile and (in my opinion) otherwise useless old bigots doing exactly what they were appointed and are paid (handsomely) to do.

I don';t see what any point of contention about this can achieve, it's hardly a  secret. They no doubt believe they are virtuously doing what somebody worthwhile wants, but that somebody will be gone or tamed one day, and then they will be able tro understand that what they've actually been doing is storing yp the resentment and hatred of a large part of the Thai population.

I would not want to be one of their number, come the day. Not at all.

Which is no doubt why they were abstentions and not votes against.

"BANGKOK — More than three quarters of the bills made into law by junta-appointed legislators have been passed without a single vote of opposition, according to a legal reform advocacy group...."

The only thing that is even remotely true in this completely farcical article is that it was, indeed, written in Bangkok. The rest is absolute nonsense...
