Popular Post webfact
Nigerian's name is Innocence - but Big Joke thinks differently Pictures (3): Thai Tourist Police Another Nigerian romance scammer has been arrested by crime buster Maj-Gen "Big Joke" Surachet Hakpal. This one was named as Innocence, aged 40, though the evidence suggests otherwise. The Tourist Police Bereau (sic) website said that the deputy commissioner along with Don Muang cops went to the home of the suspect after following him from where he used an ATM. He had been posing as a foreign boxer on Thai Friendly using a fake profile. After gaining the confidence of Thai women he said he would send them gifts from abroad.. But the gifts were held up at customs and they needed to transfer money to pay tax and secure their release. It was just a scam. He managed to get 316,500 baht that was put in an account under the name of Kongpetch Peng-aree. That was his ex-wife who is now also in custody. Police have evidence in the form of phones, bank books, paying in slips, ATM cards and notebooks. Innocence was using ATMs at Robinson's in Sri Saman and Lotus Express at Wat Nawong. They showed the clothes he used when he went to the ATM that was caught on CCTV. Innocence was found to have come to Thailand in 2011 on a fake passport. His entry was illegal and he was on a long overstay. The TPB website warned Thai women about falling for romance scammers. And Thai women who marry "people of color" were warned to make sure they know who they are getting involved with. Innocence was charged with fraud and is now in the custody of the Don Muang police. JAG
I wonder if he noticed he was being followed by a bunch of fellows in paramilitary outfits when he went to the ATM. I hope he covered up his hand when entering the PIN! Talking of heavies, the chap on the right in the middle photo is a big lad! No wonder he needs two sets of wings to keep him up! 1

Popular Post bluesofa
It's not only romance scams that people fall for. A woman worked in the same office as me in Chonburi. A "Dutch" guy found her Skype profile and contacted her. After quite a while he offered her a job working for him in Holland as an au-pair, looking after his kids. She accepted. He sent her enough money to cover the visa and the flight to Holland. He sent it all as cash by courier, but as the flight went via Malaysia, customs there impounded the cash, requiring a fine to be paid for importing so much, before it could be released onward to Bangkok. The name of the customs officer was Arabic sounding (to me) and she had to pay the fine by Moneygram only, to him. She was ready to transfer the money, when I heard what she was doing and stopped her. Googling the name of the 'customs officer' brought up results on a scam-baiting website, where he was known. 6

I noticed that rather skewed advice too. No mention of Thai women being cautioned to avoid relationships with white, western , bald headed males, heavily tattooed, wearing wife beater T-shirts, gold and a penchant for Pattaya, Patong lifestyles.
