I really want some info on what is happening with the band Silly Fools. Just in case, this is Thai related, they/were a Thai band. I know that Toe the lead singer has left. However, I am find videos on youtube of the band with a new singer singing in english and a bunch of people wondering when they will play North America.

Here is two. The first one is an eight minute thing about the new line up, with songs from the new EP Mini with some interviewing I can't hear. The second one is live, the first time they performed with the new guy and the lead has a mask on, so I think they were trying to keep the crowd from being too judgemental. I still can't make up my mind. Same music, yeah, but in English? It's a little weird, but I think I might end up liking it. I just liked Toe's voice.

Also, ethaicd.com has two sample tracks from the new Ep.

Youtube is an international thing that people from around the world post whatever they want. I have found music videos from all over the world, it seems and great place to get to know music from around the world as local interests seem limited to me.

No mate you're not. I would be very interested to know why they are now singing in English myself. The new sound doesn't sound too bad and I think I will end up liking it but it just isn't the same as the original. I know that there was a pretty big drama with Toe and the rest of the band and he said the big goodbye. It was due apparently to the band wanting him to sing something (in English maybe?) and he refused to change his style and left. A sad day for all Silly Fools fans! I will have to hear the whole new album before I make anymore comments on the new vocalists ability to win me over though.

singing in english will give them a wider audiance ,maybe hk or singapore ,more bucks than baht ,makes sense to me

Apparently Toe left because he was no longer willing to perform in venues that serve alcohol. Sad, haven't heard the new songs but the old stuff rocked. I saw them live a half dozen times and they were great.

Also, as for why the new stuff is in English, the new lead singer was born in Korea, adopted by Americans and grew up there. He came to Thailand as an adult to teach, and got involved in music while here. Maybe he's more comfortable in English than in Thai.

Nah - out of the music my wife has introduced me to, I'd say Silly Fools is my favourite. We have a Moondog album that I think has some great stuff on it, I often find myself thinking 'this is a good song' when some Bodyslam is playing, Big Ass do some nice stuff, and Palmy is pleasant.

But get me down the karaoke and Pid Tee Wai Jai will be the first one on :-)

And to the poster who wanted to see some Silly Fools videos, the first stuff I heard was 'The Singles', though some of my favourite songs come from the 'Condo" album.

Gald to see others that liked them as well. Yes, I have heard most of the new album now and I must say they have lost that something that made it work before. They are just another rock band now, nothing special. Most of the new stuff reminds me of Nickleback, which I really don't like, and sounds like they are trying hard to market themselves outside of Thailand rather than just making good music.

So, has anyone heard of Toe doing solo work, or is he just out of it all for good?
