Question On Extending A Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

My buddy who moved here with me is on a 2 month Tourist Visa issued from Singapore and it expires on Feb 12th. Can he extend his Visa by one month? Last time I was in the Thai imagration office they had a sign saying that all visas could only be extended by 7 days. Does that apply to 2 month tourist Visas as well?

A tourist visa can be extended at any immigration office in Thailand for 30 days on payment of B1900 and some photos.

and important to note he does not have to wait until the 12th to get the full 90 days out of the visa. Whenever you go in to extend they tack the 30 days onto the end of the 60.

I am the friend. Thanks raittdog.

Just to clarify, they changed this to only 7-day extensions not too long ago, did they change this back again? Or did we misunderstand the signs at Immigration?

Also, regarding 2 month+1 month+2 month visa's...will this work?

I stay here for 2 months and extend, then get lazy and don't want to go to Singapore and do a border run to Poipet....then do that again, can I then go to Singapore for a new 2 month visa and not have to leave the kingdom for 90 days? Sorry if that doesn't make sense. What I'm basically asking is can I circumvent the 90 day in/out requirement by doing 60 days and then a 2 month visa?

No idea what you are asking but you can go to a neighbouring country and apply for another tourist Visa to give you 60+30 days in Thailand or you can do 3 runs to a border and enter each time for 30days (if you hold a passport from a country that allows that).

Visa entries don't count towards the 90day in any 180 day restriction on visa free entry so you can mix them.

PS. Dont go to Singapore and do a border run to PoiPet..... or you'll be gone forever :o

If you are allowed a 60 day stay on a tourist visa you will be allowed a 30 day extension of that stay. There has been no Change.

What has changed is the extensions beyond that point or for non visa entry (which varied from office to officer). Seven days now seems to be the maximum allowed in those cases.
