I like to glance at Speedway racing once in awhile.  What's not to like?  These bikes weigh less than a Honda Wave and have about 10 times the horsepower to weight ratio.  No unnecessary stuff like gears or brakes or rear suspension ...

 

Around 80 kg, 80+ horsepower and a top speed of maybe 80 mph depending on the track. 0-60 mph in around 3 seconds.  Drag racing in the round.  Best part is the short races fit well with my attention span these days.

Subject of old race bikes ,the humble BSA Bantam still raced ,the rules and regs are strict ,must have the original crankcases ,complete with the 3 speed gearbox head and barrels can be modified,fram must have the original loop ,the rest can be modified. this one is a 175cc

Now, I have seen racing Bantams with water cooling ,must be a different  class .

A 1954 BSA Gold Star Daytona, built for the Daytona 200 race ,this one has a rigid frame,saveing 50lb in weight .it finished third in the race .

A BSA A7 500 cc twin won the race ,did not say what come second.

Bike was a 500cc twin ,based on the T100
