You got it right mate.. that aerodynamic disaster was also a BMW but some guy in central Germany made it and before he drove off he was just flipping over as there was almost no space to get the feet in a favorable angle to the road. Just a small wind gust knocked his balance..

But we Germans are famous for crazy bikes..

Look at the last one that went through the news made by a cartoonist called "Broesel" ("Crumble" or also a small piece of Hashish is called Brosel, - which suits more to him.)

The RED PORSCHE KILLER and what it's all about.

Nmqbf5V.jpg.ca4988df498e86cc536918b0fe1fa69e.jpg

And the story behind it.. Unfortunately his Cartoons have been only in German and his Movies never have been synchronized. But to that time they were "bike porn" of the highest class.

That 2nd book brought me a 4 weekends duty in a Navy Training Camp because I could not stop laughing during the Lesson after I had a short sneak into the new bought book.

That Master sergeant was yelling at me and it just made it worse...

Yeah, i'm familiar with Broesel and his comics. He was the German equivalent of Paul Sample & Ogri. He also did some comics with the Guzzi cafe racer riders always giving it to the BMW riding police (Werner?). Same guy?

I remember the build series on that bike featured in Bikers News magazine in the 80's. They are not twins, but East German singles (the name escapes me) with twin ex ports. Quite a popular cult bike with bikers in Germany.

No, it was built in the last 2 years for the Sultans of Sprint 1/8 mile drag racing / custom series throughout Europe, piloted by a woman, fairly successfully. Very Hipster. Pure form over function.

Yes, we all know what women are like, but what about the bike?

Ecosse's name was built on low-volume works of two-wheeled art, and their Titanium Series FE Ti XX takes their obsessive hand craftsmanship to new levels. This striking bit of kit features exotic titanium construction and puts down 225 horsepower to the rear wheel

Oh yeah!

A Big Twin Harley (yeah yeah i know it ain't got nuthin' HD in it - but you get what i mean) that stops, goes real fast, and goes round corners.

As a Moto Guzzi afficianado, and what the Big Red managed to do to a Guzzi trademark design, i can't stand the f###ing things.

Among one of the many contemporary derogatory nicknames for the things back then, the one i remember was Plastic Pig.

Hipsters and their motorcycle tastes have a helluva lot to answer for...........

Sure they mimicked Moto Guzzi's layout with that added slight twist of the heads and that awful headlamp clockhousing didn't do it any favours but they were utterly reliable ( after early model issues were resolved ) 200,000 up with minimal maintenance ( you know what despatchers were like ) for a despatch bike was not uncommon  .. I bought one back in the 90's from an old dear whose husband had died to move it on for her , been sat in the garage for 2 yrs , 28,000 miles on it , toolkit , handbook the lot .. Ran it for a month then put it in the classifieds and got dozens of calls for it selling for near twice what I give for it ..

MZ Same as my old winter hack late 70's to save my RD Yam ..

Yeah, well, the MZ may have been ugly, but at least it was original....

That particular model above hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down..........

They would also do 200k with minimal maintenance and maybe a rebore or three.

As for CX 4/500 cough cough i cant believe i wrote it, they water cooled something which is the best air cooled design on the planet.

Guzzis were the first mass produced motorcycle to use plated cylinders in the 70's, and bar wiring and switchgear (which was a plague on anything Italian or British in the 70's), would comfortably go round the clock with nary a problem. Up until the late '60's the BMW airhead 6-700's were THE BIKE for high mile touring, especially in the USA.... until Moto Guzzi came along.

The Yanks loved those things to the extent that by the mid '70's most police dept's ran them, and the high end, high mileage touring sector had been taken over by bikes from Mandello Del Lario. Even Coppers worldwide changed from BMW to Guzzi for a while.

I just don't get the current popularity of the Big Red 4-500 version in customizing circles.

Maybe they can't afford a proper air cooled basket case / barn find of European pedigree to start off with.

As Motorhead used to say - No Class............

Always loved SR's.

May still buy one here one day.

I see legit 500's (rare - being a 500 AND legit) with 2LS front drum brakes going for 150k in the SR Group pages. Non legit 400's 50-100k,

 here's an XT;

They came about at a time when all the Japanese firms were mixing it up a bit trying pull a move on each other Honda in particular with flat 4 Goldwing's , 6cyl CBX's and later the early V4's .. The CX was never a looker from day 1 es'pesh with the ComStar wheels but they were capable of big miles with very little maintenance which is what endeared them to despatch riders .. Personally I prefer the 500 not the later 650 and especially not the gross 650 turbo ..

Spoiled only by the modern looking rear sets.

Oil tank is stunning.

Traditionally it would have been in one half of the split fuel tanks.
