PATTAYA:--Phase 2 of the Jomtien Beach facelift begins July 27 with sidewalk building and road reconstruction planned to run through February.

Pattaya Engineering Department architect Mokora Yawapee briefed restaurant owners, beach vendors and city representatives on the second half of the 660-million-baht project at the Krua Surf restaurant June 26.

Construction will begin near the Rabbit Resort in Dongtan Beach and continue to the sea rescue center, a distance of 1.2 kilometers. Plans call for a new 1.5-meter-wide sidewalk and reconstruction of the road with new drainage tunnels laid underneath.

Mokora said the objective is to be as environmentally friendly as possible, promising that no trees would be cut period. However, he conceded, some trees may be moved if they obstruct the underground pipes.

The final phase of the work from the rescue center to Pratamnak Soi 5 will begin in December and conclude in February, according to the schedule.

I am happy for jomtien ,here in pattaya ,the beach is absolutely disgusting and I fear even with the new sand and new umberellas, the tour groups ,power boats and tour buses are here to stay...sadly the beach is just a boat launch/parking lot/ashtray...I had hope the tour groups would end up in Bali pier,...mabey Bali will take a limited amount, but pattaya beach is the only way to move this amount of people to the Parasail platforms an onward to Kho larn...The Death Blow for Pattaya..
