BANGKOK, 10th July 2018 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak has urged state agencies to follow through with their policies as assigned within the budget for fiscal year 2018, which ends in September this year.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, today emphasized that agencies must all make the best use of their time during the 7 - 8 months leading up to the election to successfully implement the government’s policies.

According to Dr. Somkid, the Revenue Department must find ways to reduce the financial burden of low-income citizens, the Government Housing Bank must work with the Government Savings Bank and the Treasury Department to provide affordable housing, and relevant agencies must come up with a clear debt restructuring plan for farmers by the end of the month.

As for measures to enhance competitiveness, the deputy premier said Thailand requires a strong digital infrastructure that makes use of financial technology to support startups.

Therefore, the government plans to create a digital park in Chonburi province. Dr. Somkid said the government will find ways to attract international experts, private companies and students to take part creating the new digital park, and has tasked the Ministry of Finance and the Stock Exchange of Thailand to act as the primary organizations in facilitating joint ventures.
