Popular Post Thaidream
Mr Musk should be congratulated for getting involved and actually creating a possible alternate solution; then rushing it to Thailand at his own expense and personally coming to oversee it's potential use. I am sure he is glad it wasn't needed but instead of sitting about and asking what can be done- he did something . 9

Hum .... OK but... why would you automatically assume that it's about 'self promotion' ? Does he really need that ? Frankly I don't think so. I suppose you've being following the story closely and feeling the frustration of your own helplessness. I sure do. I also assume that you're a person with a kind heart ... now, imagine you had billions of $, teams of technicians who can work wonders in a very short time, the mind of an inventor, and a capacity for empathy (which, admittedly, is rare among billionaires, for all kinds of reasons) ... wouldn't you swing into action just like he did ? And mind you, he's (very) far from stupid, so he knew full well, I'm sure, that he would be suspected of having some hidden self-serving purpose. It's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't, isn't it ? But he did it anyway, and personally I'm impressed. Helping other human beings in difficulty is not exactly top of the list on billionnaires' agendas, who tend to help themselves, first and foremost, and to find that absolutely normal. Similar to Hurricane Katrina when FEMA was tripping over itself until they brought in Gen. Honore to bring coordinated leadership to bear. The diving aspect has saved the day and hopefully the boys will be out in a few hours. Yes they reached out to professionals in caving and evacuation and consequently the rescue will hopefully be completed today. The water level remains low despite the rain and as far as we know they are not starved of oxygen. Its a stupid argument but why the hell would the reach out to Elon Musk? Why not Jack Ma? Why not Bill Gates? Why not Jeff Bezos? I will tell you why, because they have zero experience in this type of situation and they required the best of the best to sought the situation out, which is nearly completed by them. As Musk has said himself, and reiterated by the person i charge of the evacuation, whilst sophisticated the mini sub is completely impractical for this type of rescue, which should be pretty clear to see from anyone who has been following the footage and news reports. I am sure as hell Elon Musk knew it was not practical and completely unusable. He would probably have a fit if they actually said they would try to use it! smutcakes

If TESLA hadn't raised the bar, the other manufacturers would be years behind where they are now. They have been shamed at their own game by an upstart. I imagine a lot of senior executives were called on the carpet by their boards and investors to answer some tough questions about how they were spanked by a noob. As far as the shorts, they're going to be real disappointed when TESLA gets their line dialed in and starts meeting their production targets. Musk will make that happen if only to stick it to the shorts who have been trying to sabotage TESLA's success so their options are in the money. Even if they don't reach the levels Musk has bragged on, the stock will grow as they get the rest of the infrastructure in place that's needed to support millions of electric cars needing to be topped up. Then, Jaguar, Nissan, et al. will be coming to TESLA begging to team up. Because only a dinosaur believes that electric cars are just about the cars. It's an entire ecosystem. And there's nobody better positioned than TESLA. 3

Those who have achieved “extreme success,” says Justine, who divorced Elon in 2008, live differently than most others. “These people tend to be freaks and misfits who were forced to experience the world in an unusually challenging way,” she writes in response to a question on the user-generated response platform Quora. “They don't think the way other people think. Popular Post Kieran00001
To all those claiming that Musk was not invited and did this to raise publicity. He was first requested if he could do something to help by a Thai child who now lives in America, he said that he would if he could but assumed that Thailand had it under control, he contacted the Thai authorities, he was then formally invited by Narongsak Osottanakorn, governor of Chiang Rai province. Keep your imaginations to yourselves, stick to the facts instead of claiming things that you have just dreamed up, this is not the time nor the place for pessimistic ramblings of nonsense, the man is doing what he can to help. 1

Joss, its hardly glass half empty, Do you really think after testing it in a swimming pool that it is ready for a situation like this? Its not glass half empty its just reality. When you're in a situation where lives are at risk and you can't predict (much less control) all the variables, it's good to have a backup plan and a backup plan for that one. They'd sure feel bad if one of the kids passed out and couldn't swim on SCUBA. Or if a wall broke and inundated the cavern a lot faster than they can keep on their current plan. Or any one of a dozen scenarios that may make them really glad they had another option. Is it a low probability? Sure. But what are the odds that the exit to the cave would flood at the exact time the kids were in there? And even a prototype is better than sitting there with a thumb up the bum, watching the water rise, or a kid that can't move on his own.
