DPM Somkid invites public to take part in reform

BANGKOK, 16th July 2018 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Somkid Jatusripitak says the country has seen successful reform in many sectors over the past 2-3 years.

Defending the government’s performance, Somkid said that agencies have been pushing hard for reform in several respects including economic reform. In doing so, not only does legislation have to change, but methods, vision, mechanisms, and approaches to economic stability have to be in parallel with the world’s circumstances, he noted, adding that this is what the government has been doing for the past few years.

Instead of criticizing and making negative comments about the reform effort, he said the public should take part in the implementation in order to streamline the reform process.

The current administration has achieved reform in six regards: 1) improving the well-being of the poor and helping them get out of debt, 2) narrowing the existing inequality gap by introducing a number of laws, 3) stamping out corruption in society and cultivating a culture of morality and good governance, 4) increasing the country’s ability to compete in terms of trade and investment, 5) improving the country’s transportation, digital, economic, and financial infrastructure, and 6) encouraging public participation in achieving unity and reconciliation.

This guy is extremely annoying. If he was a sheep perhaps his hind hooves would be in someone’s rubber boots.

Perhaps he is 'forgetting' that the public is barred from meeting in groups of over 5 and that only the NCPO are allowed to discuss politics. Not having a voice on the new constitution and having zero representation in parliament is hardly a way to get public representation. A man who is happy to represent whoever is in power and change his opinion to suit is hardly a decent role model.

Look at that photo - just like a used-car salesman saying: 'Would I lie to you?'

His idea of the public 'participating' in politics is: Go along, like a mindless sheep, with everything that Prayut proposes and don't utter a syllable of protest. Then you are 'participating' like a good Thai in good Thai politics.

Encouraging public participation in achieving unity and reconciliation.:cheesy:

He is having a laugh, what he means is put up with it or else.

1 No noticeable improvement;

2 Inequality gap in terms of wealth/application of law yawns wider than ever;

3 Prawit!

4 Evidence?

5 ECC seems a good idea;

6 No public participation allowed except in groups of five.

Indeed. More of a quisling than Quisling ever imagined a quisling could be.

One of the original 'What's in it for me?' brigade. Surprisingly, he seems to think he should be taken seriously...

There are no words which do justice to lying like this. None at all.

And would you please learn how to iron a collar? Or teach the missus how to.

I did take him as seriously as I could by my posting.

Yep, you summarised the guy as well as I've seen. He is truly and surpassingly annoying. But then many SIno-Thais are, I've noticed. Perhaps they have a 'I take myself ever so seriously' gene.

Shouldn't it read: invites public to take part and conform?

The only thing genuine about this ponce, are his Saville Row suits....most things he says are just hollow and meaningless tripe.

That's because Thailand is not a representative democracy and the unelected junta through its absolute powers has past laws to REQUIRE the public as well as any elected government following the junta government to take part in reform implementation.

Notice that nowhere in the junta's 20-year reform plan is there any mention of creating/restoring a sustainable DEMOCRACY.

This guy should sell used cars.  At least he gives a list.  Missing are: 1. Personal freedoms, 2. Better education, 3. Participatory government. 4. Allowing debate and scrutiny.  5. Corruption has only been transferred with the advent of gifts from dead friends.     If people in Thailand are criticizing reforms and pompous jokers like this guy, there is hope for the country after all.
