PM launches new waterway development program based in Sufficiency Economy Philosophy

BANGKOK, 16 July 2018 (NNT) – Thailand's Prime Minister has chaired the launch of a volunteer program for the development of waterways using the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha remarked at the launch that his government has placed His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy at the core of its social work and is seeking to have all sectors work together for the betterment of society.

He pointed to the “We Do Good with Our Hearts” campaign initiated by His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn as an example, explaining volunteers in the program have helped dredge canals and cleaned public spaces for the benefit of their communities and society as a whole.

The PM further noted that volunteers also contributed to the rescue effort of Moo Pa Academy youth football team from Tham Luang Cave with His Majesty thanking all involved both in Thailand and those from abroad.

Gen Prayut stated that his administration uses royal teachings in all of its policies and is always considering what is required to bring happiness to the people while remaining aware of the balance called for by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. He said the government wishes to have communities be self-sufficient and be strong foundations for economic growth, adding that waterside communities can be developed into sources of income and good living.

Agreements between provincial administrations and the private sector have been made to allow for more Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities while the government works to remedy issues impacting the Kingdom’s waterways. A new round of efforts is to launch this month across Bangkok and all the nation’s provinces in tribute to His Majesty the King’s birthday celebration on July 28th.

That means the money will run out in 3 weeks and the project will be forgotten in 4 weeks.

Same same, same same. Welcome to Thailand.

And of course none of us is ALLOWED to say what we perhaps really think ...

I've finally worked out what the collective noun for Thailand's 600 generals is.

A sufficiency of generals,

Or should that be reserved for  Prawith who has

a sufficiency of watches.

When will Thailand ever have

a sufficency of coups?

Interesting idea, but he may want to ask people NOT to throw so much crap in the water.  The littering is appalling.

They have a tourist boat that seems to explore more of the system.  Perhaps the system can move freight while Bangkok is snarled in heavily congested traffic.

Well, that may be a problem with TV rather than with the Government. In my opinion. Allegedly

You may well be right - but I was referring to a certain, very sensitive, LM law ...

Roger that

The canal dredging around where I live was very swift and effective.

I have plenty to say, but no further comment.
