  • Wherever large vehicles are manouevering parents should keep their children close. A terrible tragedy. I hope the coach driver doesn't get unjustly scapegoated.

  • Sad story, but this blame falls all on the parents for not having control of the boy.

Tragedies like this highlight the need for long heavy vehicles to be fitted with reversing cam's or in the very least a reversing warning buzzer to at least let anyone at the rear of the ve-hick know

Sadly unfortunate for this little boy.

This has not been a good couple of weeks for Chinese in Thailand.

Tragedies like this highlight the need for long heavy vehicles to be fitted with reversing cam's or in the very least a reversing warning buzzer to at least let anyone at the rear of the ve-hick know that it is intending to reverse .. It looks a fairly new bus but no mention of whether it's fitted with either .. Commiserations to the family of the young lad ..

Pretty sure any temple cashing in on Chinese tourist revenue has the proper insurance coverages.

the driver didn't do anything wrong RIP to the little boy but if someone had to get the blame, it is the boy parents why they not looking after their child?

Chinese always walking on streets and not care about cars

When I was growing up a kid a few years younger than me that lived a few streets over died right on the next corner from where I lived after he crossed the street but apparently lost his shoe/sneaker and turned around to pick it up and got hit in the head by a bus.  The boy was about this age as I recall, circa 1965

Probably no reversing horn....don't recall ever hearing one on a bus in Thailand....it may have saved this kid.

I lived in Shanghai and they have to have police at crosswalks to stop people from crossing when the light turns red. Not a bright bunch when it comes to traffic and moving vehicles. I imagine the bus had backup lights which the kid obviously did not pay attention to but I agree with most commentators, parents fault.

A horrible tragedy no matter who's fault....I couldn't imagine having to live with that as a parent. Thoughts and prayers to the family and also the bus driver.

What speed was a reversing bus doing to kill a child?

If the child goes under the bus what does the speed matter.

was going to ask the same question....MAKE the same point.....I have never heard a noise from reversing bus.....even if this bus had one would the kid have stopped and NOT gone behind the bus.....doubt it !!

A sad and needless loss of a young lad on Holiday with his folks.

This is the very kind of thing that makes Thailand a very dangerous place as a Holiday destination.

All buses and large commercial vehicles need to be fully fitted out with Audible Reversing Bleepers, Wide Angle Reversing Cameras, and also Tachographs to monitor Driver Hours and standards.

No longer is it good enough to ignore these kind of Safety measures in Thailand, with an ever increasing Tourist Sector.

Thailand has become a land of gross neglegence in he persuit of profits and greed.

RIP little Lad, and condolences to the Family.

Gross negligence would be the Chinese parents allowing their child to chase cats in a temple behind reversing busses!

If I allowed my child to run about alone and chase a cat out into the busy road and then he got run down I would not be blaming a car driver!!!

What difference would reverse beepers make in this situation?  The kid is still going to be running behind the bus anyway and take no notice of the beepers.. because he is a child.  And, how do you know the bus did not have any reversing beepers anyway?

And what country do you live in?????? I came from Canada and they don't use "spotters".

Title should be “ dies “  not “killed “

i have seen spotters at some thai bus stations

Wonder what the cat did to cause the chase?  Peed in someones shoes whilst they visited the temple?

Negligent parents really. All too common now it can be seen that parents don't control their children when out...then again, parenting period is often absent now with all the examples of feral behaviour everywhere.

as horrible as this is, what i find amazing is that there are more chinese  people on the earth than there are cats. go figure.

It's not greed, it's a total lack of awareness of safety precautions. Thais have zero common sense or concept of cause and effect. That is why they often do the most stupid things, especially when driving. They simply have no idea that what they do might be dangerous.

Which temple? Where did this accident happen? WWWW. The basic principle of reporting.

You have never been to Saudi!

Chinese parenting at it's best - full blame falls on the parents.

It's a byproduct of the Little Emperor Syndrome.

The basic principle of comprehension...read the OP and then read the link, all the information that you need I there.  So basic.

I'm blaming the parents , sorry, a 6 year old should never be left alone in a busy area with traffic.
