Police in the south of Thailand announced the arrest of a former nursing assistant who is facing a fraud charge after being on the run for four years.

Wandee Chatreewong was arrested at a cake shop at a well known department store in downtown Hat Yai on Wednesday.

She was a nursing assistant at the Palian Hospital in Trang. With two others police say she ran a scam offering positions at the then soon to be opened Hat Samran Chalermprakiat 80 Hospital in Trang.

Prospective employees paid around 30,000 to 80,000 baht to secure employment at the new hospital but it was just a ruse.

Total losses amounted to two million baht.

A nurse and a member of the finance section at Palian Hospital were arrested before, reported Thai Rath.

Wandee is being held on a charge of fraud after a warrant was issued in 2015.

Brilliant detective work waiting for her at the cake shop.

She looks like she has been spending a lot of time there.

and those who gave her money thought nothing unusual about purchasing their positions little did they know they chose the wrong vendor.
