catman20 Posted July 19, 2018 Share Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) they tried that stunt with me at the airport bought a water give it to me my money went in a box and change was given to me from the box and no receipt i kicked up a fuss there and then saying i knew what there game was and i wanted a receipt, they then took my money from the box rang up the till give me a receipt and put the money in the till. when i was going to come back from my holiday i was going to email the company but i forgot to had i been going straight home i would of emailed and reported the staff. In 7-11 especially if I do not want the plastic bag and go out, I have proof that I paid the item. Why ? A close friend of mine a few years ago bought a pack of chewing gum in a supermarket ( in Thailand ) and as he was going out the security stopped him and accused him of not paying the small item that was in his pocket . No receipt and no bags. Lost an hour ,calling the manager, trying to remember witch one of the 7 cashier he used ? Then waiting to watch security CCTV. Fortunately the CCTV was working that day. Trujillo Posted July 20, 2018 Share Posted July 20, 2018 In the late 70s when I was working in a big pizza place, some geezers would pay with old coins or bills -- pure silver coins and silver certificates (this is in the US). No idea why; maybe just to see how I would react. I would fake the ring up and pocket the bills or coins and then on the next sale, put my own (current bills and coins) in the till to make up the difference. If the State cannot enforce the law, then theft becomes commonplace, as in street riots, civil insurrections etc. But individuals, you and I, can find a higher reason to avoid theft. Keep looking. I think that most of the Thais ie, market stall, small business owners in the up country areas are honest decent people, although maybe it is different in tourist areas like Pattaya and some parts of Bangkok. I started a promotion asking the customers to write their names on the back of the receipt and put it in the tombola box. Once a week we had a raffle and two winners received the same food as was on the receipt, free. It worked. People who steal from their own kind are the lowest of the low, whether it is the small business owner or the ordinary person.
