A Thai woman is in a nasty situation after her ex returned the family vehicle.

Still under a hire purchase agreement he gave the pick up back to her when he should have been responsible for the payments.

But it was the state of the pick-up that has caused much online comment.

The ex had smashed it all up, bust the windows and even set fire to parts of it.

The wife Sasiwan Mongkhon said that she married her husband and they had a child together. He persuaded her to use her name to buy a pick-up but he was meant to keep up the payments.

However they split up unexpectedly. The wife got the kid and he got the pick up.

Then the demands kept coming through the post form the finance company.

While the wife couldn't contact her waste of space husband to find out why he wasn't paying the installments.

That all ended when she found the pick up waiting for her in the condition shown in our picture.

Daily News talked to lawyer Wirat Wangpitipanich who suggested that a criminal case could be made for the damage.

Surely there must be a law against criminal damage here?  At the end of the day, that is all this case is. Another small minded Thai male with an inferiority complex.

How true, outer family member signed as guarantor (using his farm, animals, equipment as security) for his daughter to get large student loan, in total around 250,000Baht. She's been working 10 years, now a bank manager, never paid 1 Baht in repayments.

Student loan people gave both of them 60 day? to start making payments.  No payments.

Father eventually got a further document stating the soon to start process to sell his assets.

The whole family up in arms about the unfair treatment of the father. 'It's not fair, everybody does it like this.'  Etc.....

However the automatic garnishee process then kicked in and repayments are being deducted automatically from the daughters salary. Before it started she had a couple of calls from the HR department of the bank which made her highly embarrassed and she threatened to resign.

Looks like Father Ted has had a go a knocking out one little dent and it ended up like this.

I think she's getting into a fuss about nothing

Why doesn't she just claim it on the 1st class NO FAULT insurance policy she has (like they all do ).

Oops! maybe she doesn't have

The willingness to respond to disagreements with violence, either against a person's property, or against the individual's person, is an insight into the Thai way of life. It's a little scary when anyone, anywhere does this kind of thing. Here, however, it seems that such behavior is accepted as endemic, met with a shrug and an inferred "well, what did you expect?".

The mandatory insurance that you have to purchase when you renew your plates only covers the vehicle and persons that you hit if you caused the accident, it does not cover you or your property.  That Insurance costs extra and is not mandatory.

He appears not the sharpest tool as his name is all over the finance.

Only through a divorce, as no mention of Guarantor or collateral

One would assume that the car had full comprehensive (1st class insurance) as that would be a requirement of the hire purchase company sighting this document annually as their insurance against the car being ridden off or stolen, if it is in fact is a requirement here in Thailand, she should make a claim, the insurance company can then chase the husband.

If the hire purchase company didn't do their job correctly by checking to make sure that the vehicle was insured for damage/theft, if a requirement here in Thialand, well I would say that they had a duty of care which wasn't followed and could be part of the blame here, i.e. if they requested a copy of the insurance annually or chased it up, pushed for it, then she wouldn't be in this predicament, not passing the buck, just stating that they might have had a duty of care in this instance.

Once the insurance company fixes the car, she can surrender it to the hire purchase company and pay the balance in instalments after it has been sold.

Jail time for hubby via the insurance company and x wife for damaging her property.

We don`t know the full story. Why did the couple split up and under what circumstances?

Maybe the guy had good reasons to be angry?

What does it matter and how is it anyone's business?

What is the whole point of getting married when you behave in such a manner?

Better to getting married with a (good) farang...

Imagine if he got the kid and she got the truck.

Better he take out his aggression against that ugly truck, than the child.

Can't fathom anyone paying 800k or whatever for that poo-colored monstrosity.
