The only thing that surprises me about TAT is that that didn't blame that wandering crocodile (the one they have caught yet) for the disaster. The lack of understanding of this unnecessary mass loss of life is unbelievable...but then life is cheap here.

it could be a new tourist attraction

Why is it everything is money, they think that reducing the overall holiday cost by 1000Baht just around $30 will make Chinese come back!! They have more morales than that.

Better solution would be to make sure innocent people are never killed again by the same circumstances. This will never happen as the money needed to do so will unlikely be provided.

The solution is simple BUT they have to accept that if they want tourists back they have to fix the problem.

That is to stop corruption at all levels with heavy punishments for ALL offenders from the very top all the way down.

Make the country safe including all the passenger boats and the roads. Force the police to do the job that they are paid for, put the Army where it belongs, back in the barracks and emasculate them so they cannot make a coup any more.

I told you the solution is simple but it will never happen as there is far too much money and face involved.

Simple? The only thing simple is the author, if you think it's simple.

Really? And your suggestion is what exactly?

How would YOU fix it then?

Stopping coruption, and nepotism is the first step, followed quickly by installing global benchmarks etc., re safety and more.

But if corruption isn't 90% - 100% is not gone then the new benchmarks will not be observed, will be avoided, will be ignored and won't produce change at all.

And it's pretty obvious until there are very serious mandatory punishments forcorruptin, transparent investigations (inclusing reform of the police), much more scrutiny of the judiciary and their findings nothing else will change.
