I partly processed my changeover from tourist to retirement visa and received a stamp "NON-O Retirement", good for 3 months. At the time I was told by an officer there something about "45 days" and I dutifully noted the information. Now 47 days before expiry of the stamp, I keep getting told about it in different ways, like "You may process your documents now and apply now or apply nearer to the expry date". I think its foolish to leave it too late. I've read hints online that "45 days" may mean "possible to apply in advance within 45 days", but want confirmation. Would someone kindly confirm the meaning. Thank you.

Don't panic! That's NOT a final deadline but exactly the opposite: it's the first day and you could wait until the very last day (not recommended).

Oh, it's a bit urgent. Thank you.

Even in Thaivisa forum might take a while to get an answer.

Lunchbreak!

"You may" process now.

It indeed sounds that you might apply for the one year extension 45 days before your permission to stay from the visa expires.

This seems to be common practice at the Bangkok office.

Others might no allow earlier than 30 days before.

What they were saying was that you could apply for the extension of stay during the last 45 days of the 90 enty from the visa.

If using the money in the bank option the 800k baht will need to be in the bank for 60 days on the date you apply for the extension.
