BANGKOK, 26th July 2018 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has confirmed his willingness to meet with local politicians during the recent mobile Cabinet meeting in the Northeast.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday that the Cabinet’s trip to the lower part of the northeastern region was not intended to be an opportunity to meet any particular group but to allow the government to talk to local people and hear their issues.

Gen. Prayut’s comment was in response to ongoing reports about the government’s plan to woo local politicians to join a newly-set up political party.

The Prime Minister stated that he is willing to meet anyone while noting that he wants nothing from anyone except their help in advancing the interests of the country.

Concerning criticism of the Cabinet’s allocation of budget during the trip, Gen. Prayut said that all decisions were based on the merit of each proposed project from each location.

Speaking to local politicians will give Prayut an understanding of local issues and what the locals are are concerned about. ........ Yeah right.  Politicians, especially those in Thailand are allergic to getting close to the common folk lest they pick up something unwanted.

Third day into the mobile cabinet and about all that's been reported is the watchman had a big poo.

They've done a pretty good job of keeping this money handing out tour under wraps.

His intentions are bloody clear, I start to understand why most Thais don't bother paying attention to politics. It's not worth the hassle.

Not another story like this, for christ sake. The guy is a neandarthal and for a list of reasons as long as our collective arms he is absolutely UNSUITABLE to even be involved in politics. As said above, if Thais vote for this fool, they deserve their servitude and vastly unjust, inequal society that will certainly follow

Today it's: "PM Prayut willing to meet with local politicians during mobile Cabinet meeting", yet only yesterday we had "Prayut denies mobile Cabinet meetings are political ploy":

Tomorrow "Secrets of how to say one thing and mean another"?

Indeed. Some of us came to this conclusion quite some time ago. Even the level of nominal, symbolic resistance and defiance by the people of this military junta is pathetically minimal. So, Thais - keep on waaing obediently and dutifully to your Masters. You are true experts at it by now. Enjoy your servitude (because you are evidently not willing to take a stand and fight for a more just society) ...

Ah, Eligius,

You're just trying to hustle the East again...

Meet with local politicians, maybe with a chance to recruit them

to his party, and the mobile cabinet meeting was not supposed

to be political, according to the PM.

Baloney galore. If he want to talk to the local people, why did he intimidate and stop those who want to state their opinion. If this cabinet meeting is about budget allocation, why you need spend and waste time with selective politicians. These politicians are not the latest MPs and do not represent any people. Has any public hearing held on these project proposals? He keep talking hogwash and assumed that people are stupid. His agenda and intentions are clear as daylight.

If I learned one thing from my time in Thailand is as corrupt as it may be, there is not a lot of difference between them and our so called advanced and free countries.

We in the west have really been duped in the belief of our freedom and our societies are far from free of corruption just that a lot of it has been legalised.

Our politicians also travel the country handing out cash in marginal seats.
