My old prescription glasses were getting scratched so I stopped by, here in Thailand, a glass shop to see what a new pair would cost.

WOW! To my amazement they quoted me a price of $500 or thereabouts. Bifocal with invisible line.....ie progressive glasses.

I later went online ....Zenni...to see what they would charge. Progressive glasses with the frames and recommended lenses were $109 including shipping.

Obviously I choose the Zenni glasses and ordered the same. I was worried about them get held up in customs but didn't have to as I received my glasses today via Thailand Post.

Just wanted to let other members here know that you can order glasses online and not get held up by customs.

As said Zenni works well.  But bifocal is not the same as progressive lens and bifocal is normally even cheaper.  Progressive is just that - various focal ranges getting to the reading prescription so normally good for daily wear (stairways not an issue) but perhaps not so great for computers, or even extended reading as the field of vision is very limited when get close.  But that said many people do get used to them and would never want to return to normal bifocals.
