Police’s job openings for male-only officers discriminatory: NHRC

The Royal Thai Police Office’s recent job opening for male-only inquiry officers is discriminatory and a violation against the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women of which Thailand is a signatory, said Mrs Angkhana Nilapaichit, a member of the National Human Rights Commission.

She said that the NHRC had proposed that the Royal Thai Police Office recruit female inquiry officers to interrogate female victims of sexual offences, noting that not every police station has a female inquiry officer.

Feminist group has repeatedly demanded more female police officers to be assigned as inquiry officers to handle sexual offence cases arguing that female victims are more willing to talk female interrogators and tend to be less embarrassed compared to being grilled by male interrogators.  Also, female interrogators are regarded as more suitable to question victimized children in child abuse cases.

I can't see the problem.

Surely the way to resolve this would to be by employing katoeys. A win-win situation.

Discrimination based on sex and/or age is wrong.

Besides...many of the best candidates are female and/or older.

We are nearly 20 years into the 21st century...time to move forward.

The women can apply for men’s room attendants....

Its Thailand not a civilized caring western country. I would prefer to see job openings for actual Police not criminals! That would be the first step!!. Then piss and moan about equal rights. Fact is everyones human rights are being abused because there is no trustworty police force. In this day and age police can be paid to make sure no justice is served in murder cases, rape cases and so on. Theres a theory the women that jumped from the moving trucks underwear was burnt to get rid of evidence and 300k paid to the pigs.

This being the case it should be everyones right to carry firearms and wear the strangely english worded "police" vest atleast.

just saying.....

So now every police station must have a female to assist in sexual offence cases according to these "experts". These equality victimologists will be wanting every form of gender bender to be available as well soon, just in case one of them should happen to attend a police station anywhere within the country. Thin end of the wedge.
Sounds like a great idea but completely impractical and a great example of how these human rights activists expect the rest of society to cater for every little partition of the law to provide for themselves at every other member of society's expense. It is time these people were told to get on with life, in every country.

I'm totally against this sort of discrimination. They should specify "penis needed" instead. Gotta be able to pee standing.

I'm there might be some woman who might like to use the same wording in a 'wanted' advert..
