Now, now children! Tit-for-tat at housing estate beggar's belief

The back story to a man refusing to pay his maintenance fees at a Bangkok housing estate has got everyone wondering if the protagonists are adults or just children dressed up as grown adults.

Some of the antics of the male resident of the Phakphirom estate in Ramkhamhaeng have neighbors questioning his place in society.

And even the security guard is getting in on the childish act after the juristic person put in some petty measures to make the man cough up his fees.

Earlier this week the story came to light when the man was caught on CCTV dumping a load of rubbish near the security at the main gate - then doing a gleeful little dance to mock those behind the camera.

He also was filmed damaging some traffic cones.

But that is just the tip of the bad neighbor iceberg.

Sanook found out that in a long running feud he has:

* Revved his engine burning rubber creating a smokescreen at the security post

* Thrown urine all over the ground near the gate

* Played "Knock Down Ginger" with his neighbors - that's a children's game of ringing a doorbell and running away

* Damaged the CCTV system

The office has responded by taking him to court over non-payment of 269,000 baht in fees since 2009.

And now they are blocking him having internet in his house and won't give him a key card for the gate.

The office told Sanook that he paid 4,000 baht when he moved in but never paid again. They won a court case but still he won't comply.

His neighbors are questioning his place in society saying he should be banished for annoying them.

Reporters managed to catch up with the man as he prepared to leave.

They asked him about all the trouble. He said: "Talk to my lawyer".

Pressed about annoyance to his fellow residents he said:

"I don't have a problem with them - my beef is with the juristic person".

Questioned about his little jig caught on camera he said:

"I was just having fun". Then he wai-ed and said he must go to work.

The security guard was asked whether it was true that he gave the middle finger to the resident.

"Oh yes," he said. "I give him the middle finger every day I see him".

The case appears destined to continue in court.

I suppose there's one in every neighbourhood,

in ours there are several that don't pay for

the security guards,street lighting,and garbage

collection, they must take their rubbish and dump

it on the roadside, and would be the first to complain

if they were broken into.the charge for the 3 services

is only 350 THB, p.m.
